Love this piece! Personally, because of the fabulous wood grain on the drawers, and I like the herringbone design, I'd sand and create the herringbone design by staining. For the outside, I'd paint it. Because the surfaces are flat, it would be fairly easy to sand if you get tired of the design. Great find. My mom uses 2 square storage ottomans in her small family room. They both have a tray under the top so she can flip them for a hard surface, or use as extra seating when needed. Also, the storage is great to get throw blankets out of the way when not in use. I'm pretty sure she got them at HomeGoods. Best Size for a Coffee Table or Ottoman in Tiny Living Room? I have one similar to the one posted. I love it. We use it all the time for pancakes and bacon; hamburgers, chicken, steak and kabobs. One thing I have learned is when cooking meat and kabobs, make a tinfoil tent. it will help keep the heat closer to the food. I have a gas stove and keep the heat at medium, medium low. The only problem I do have is setting off the fire alarms with the smoke, but opening the window and the kitchen door solves that problem (most of the time.) On the Pros and Cons of Grill Pans |

I have a tiny apt that does not have much kitchen storage space, no dishwasher (other than myself) and not that big of a sink. for parties of 4 or 6, we'll use real plates, for any more (10 max can fit in my livingroom/kitchen) paper plates, real silverware and real glasses. I LOVE it! I have a cute 1940's style apartment that I can't paint. by using poster putty, I think this would be a fabulous idea to spruce up the staircase with the avacado green runner that I can't touch. The Crazy Colorful $16 Stairway Makeover Cozy Little Cave |

I agree with lwyrgrl1. Also, though it looks adorable, I'm concerned about 3 things: mold repellent, the fire hazzard and less important... splinters. Even sanding it down, the wood is so dry it would splinter too easily. Green Style: A DIY Wood Pallet Headboard |

The best thing that me and my partner did was get seperate blankets. Just that did the trick for better sleeping. We have a queen bed, 1 queen comforter/ flat sheet and 1 twin comforter/ flat sheet. Best scenario ever! Sleeping Style: Twin Beds |

when splurging on a take-out salad at lunch for work I omit the croutons and about 1/2 the cheese and wrap it into a pita or tortilla. Just makes life easier. For the most part, I make salads at home (as they taste better and are more nutritious then resteraunts) and make the pieces actually bite size. What Is the Best Way to Gracefully Eat a Salad? |

I have no idea what to make! My BF bought 3 eggplant for the 2 of us. Eggplant parm is going to be made with 2 of them, but am at a loss for what to do with the last one. suggestions? What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of January 29-30, 2011 |

I agree with operagirlcooks. I just grab the kitchen towel. I can adjust the thickness to what I'm pulling out of the oven and it's way easier to grasp than trying to use any potholder. For trivets, I do have a couple of vintage basketweave circles and a cast iron trivet, but they are mostly for decoration. Hurray for the Potholder! 6 Handmade Favorites |

Our family tradition started back when I was about 16. There is 10 years between me and my youngest sister. We asked our parents if on Christmas eve, we could open sister presents, then do parent and Santa presents in the morning. It quickly became a tradition. Now that we are all adults, one of my sister's is married to a pastor. We drive down to his church and eat pizza in between the children and 11 PM service and open presents in the santuary under the tree.
