Are Bay Leaves Really Worth the Trouble?
6/18/13 11:44 AM

I gave up caffeine (though not in chocolate-form) when I was trying to get pregnant, and am now adding it back in occasionally with just five weeks left to go before baby. I can tell it definitely affects her activity level, but I'm getting more and more tired these days. I keep it early in the day, and just one cup. Usually half coffee and half milk.
Oddly, though, I've never had any trouble giving it up. In the past I always stopped drinking it when my husband would go out of town (frequently) and it was no big deal.

Personally I'm happy to see so many comments where people say "My own" and I'd put myself in this category. If you choose to have a wedding, it SHOULD be done the way you and your partner want it!
I was pretty happy with the Calvin and Hobbes reading at our wedding, but it pales in comparison to the couple that actually had an entire C&H-themed wedding (you can Google it).

Now that we have it, essential. But it's not a countertop resident, and my husband has to get it out for me (pregnant!) so I have to really want to use it. I don't like using it for grating cheese unless the dishwasher's about to be run. You know what I haven't done yet? Pie crust! And I'm so pie-phobic you'd think it would have been trial one out of the box!

Mmm! I would love this, if only my husband would allow for the presence of cauliflower in our home. :P
My mom used to broil it, to a similar effect.

We registered at a couple of the usual places, as well as REI for some camping stuff for my husband. Only a handful of people opted for items off that registry, but it was the people who knew him best. :)

I honestly had no idea there were so many rules about how much you're supposed to give/spend, gifts for the shower/wedding, etc. My coworker was saying how she was going to give her niece $500 for her upcoming wedding, and all I could think was how grateful I'd be to have that, now or when I got married five years ago. I made a comment about how some people gave us $20, and some people just showed up to be happy for us, and we appreciated it all. "Who would give $20?!" she asked incredulously. "That doesn't even cover the cost of the meal!" Well, we didn't have a meal...

I'm retroactively exhausted learning about all these rules. Glad I chose not to know about them when I got married!

I've often wondered about dandelion greens from my CSA--how do they grow them without just making a huge dandelion mess in the surrounding fields?
That said, we only took the greens once. My husband started sneezing so badly from even handling them that we've never tried eating them!

Emmi, I don't know where you are, but I loved our farm in Whately. They offer small, medium and large shares (small was good for my husband and I). The veggies were always in the share room, but members could go into the fields for the pick-your-own of the week, which included sugar snap peas, green beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, melons (one year), as well as herbs and flowers. I think it came out to $14/week, and even less if you signed up early-bird. Yes, there were pick-up and pick-your-own time restrictions, but nothing too tough once you got used to it.

I really want to. My husband and I were with a farm for the past three years, but moved and that one is no longer convenient. We've got our first baby on the way, and I'm concerned about having time to deal with loads of produce, though at the same time, it's become a way of life, and I'd hate to abandon it. Plus, the upfront money is always a little tight for us...

Is this how bran muffins are usually made? (I've never sought out a recipe.) I don't have bran cereal regularly, but I do have a few mason jars full of bran. I thought I'd have something to use it in!

I voted for location, but it was tied with expense. My husband and I try to buy local/organic, and that adds up fast when you're buying meat for 4-6 instead of just two! I made savory pecans for a baby shower recently, and probably used $16 worth of nuts.
