I bought their pepper mill for the second time last week. I bought the first one about 10 yrs ago and sold it on ebay to buy a more expensive and fancier one. But kicked myself for doing so when I discovered all traditional mills out there required some sort of saucer underneath it to catch the crumbs.
I was ecstatic when I saw that they still had the same one after all these years (first generation was a black, this one’s navy blue). Of course bought it and enjoying the no-mess upside down design.

I have a tiny NY kitchen and I cook a lot for the family of three. It doesn’t help I own basically all appliances except deep fryer, which I threw out last year. I use them all regularly so getting rid of them is out of the question.
I’d love to know:
money saving tips in buying and storing food
effectively cleaning black stove top w/o scratching surface & stained enamels
storing many kinds of flours powders
making good use of window sill above sink other than plants
how others store onions, potato, banana, fruit @ room temperature – fruits are nice, but having onions and potato on countertops are simply ugly.
cheap easy material for DIY kitchen flooring. We have 1sqft tiles just floating on our floor.
clever storage for baby products (bottles, food, warmer, etc)
asian kitchens stocked with rice(& rice cooker) and different kinds of fridge items
nicely designed pad for the sink area
art to hang in my kitchen

Our living space is grey -- Benjamin Moore Pebble Beach -- and it gets compliments all the time. It makes the space look larger.

Love your post. I was looking for herbs other than Basil every time I stop by Union Sq farm market but I guess I'd have to wait for spring? I just moved into a very sunny apartment with a spacious kitchen window sill so I can't wait to try this!
I have a rectangle pot the size of 2 dozen egg cartons stacked. would that be too small?

Sorry, but what are the low pile ones? I just ordered striped ones from FLOR (waiting for delivery) but can't tell if they're low pile or not. that phrase doesn't appear on the site either.
Thanks

Those are my dream colors but I wasn't as bold as you when the moment came and I had to pick a color for my 16 month old Sam(antha). Going with a more neutral grayish tone instead.
I love the lighting. Where did you get those?

I used to shy away from buying SteelCut oats because of the cooking time, but I guess you could use the rice cooker! Mine has a timer, so i will have that set to be cooked by the time I wake up. Thanks for the info!

Is this a coincidence that I just threw out my 6 year old DeLonghi deep fryer this morning?
I used to use that once a week for fried dumplings for the first few years, but have taken up healthier eating habits now. Left unused for a couple years the fryer has turned into this disgusting greasy sticky thing that'll give you a heart attack just by looking at it.
I would deep fry again, but would use a wok from now on. Deep fryer was a pain in the butt to clean...
