Every time I see an office, no matter how beautifully designed, sans walls I think of 2 movies from the 80's that epitomized this sort of fish bowl experience well. Wall Street and Working Girl.

Everything Pi said.
And what happened to letting your teen explore and figure out who they are? I can't imagine NYC doesn't have enough to offer teens. Though I am well aware it is a way different experience growing up in a massive metropolis to say rural Kentucky or an island like Martha's Vineyard.
Sidebar here: In the 80's, growing up in suburbia NJ, my friends and I hung out/partied at each other's homes so most of the parents knew where we were and what we were doing. Good lord, my mom and a friend's moms would be in jail now for allowing a kegger but the rules were that people HAD to sleep over. No drinking and driving and no binge drinking. I am not saying it was right, but it was what we did and no one ever got hurt thank God.

Best thing I can say is go with your instinct. No matter what books and friends say about breast feeding, napping, etc, every baby is unique and there is no one fits all solution. Good example: My son was never a great napper but sleeps through the night which to me is a bigger win.Enjoy the adventure because the popular saying "it goes fast" 'is as true as it can be.

I have a different view of what "going wrong during a move" is so yes to me you are a touch whiny but I get it. You planned, God laughed.
NYC takes no prisoners and you are in the city that still never sleeps. So by all means learn to love that subway noise and find a local dry cleaner/laundromat. Go to Fairway Market, enjoy the parks, sit on the steps by Julliard, take advantage of free days at the museums, hug your dog and be tickled pink that you did not move here during the winter ;-)

Holy Moses, while I know this is for a project and doors were removed, it affirms yet again, why I hate opening shelving. LOL
It would be kind of cool though if Apartment Therapy did a version of this by asking readers to send in similar shots. ;)
