You know, you have that really nice recessed nook next to the door. Maybe some built-ins to create an entry way would work sell there. As far as bathroom noises, you can pick up a "white noise" generator for relatively cheap that will drown out any embarrassing sounds you are worried will carry to the den or dining areas. We have been 5-gal brewers for years, but ran into that same problem: it required two people, almost an entire day, and if the batch went south, it felt like you were killing a child to flush your hard work down the sink. We just started doing 1-gal batches, and it's amazing. We have yet to have a crappy small batch, and we can do it in the course of a toddler's nap time. Plus, we can do way more experimentation with flavors, bittering herbs, etc, without messing up a huge amount of beer, or spending a ton on so many grains. Also, my toddler can get in with the action too: he drinks the apple juice that comes in the glass gallon jug so we can make even more beer! Why I Became a 1-Gallon Homebrewer Beer Sessions |

Maybe take out the guts of the fireplace, like the screen and racks, and put in some lovely candles for some mood lighting. I'd also paint the bricks cream or light taupe to go with the stone work. You could hang a third plant picture very easily on the bricks (look for specialty brick or mortar hangers) if you want to dress it down. Makeover Ideas for Brown-Painted Fireplace? Good Questions |

Um, is that a boxwood in the top planter? That's probably not really an appropriate plant for a 6 inch pot. Before & After: DIY Color-Block Planters East Coast Creative |

Well ours are in the garage, but we put up some road signs we found at an estate sale. So it's like art, and the industrial metal is impervious to mere bike tires. If that isn't an option, just put something up on the wall behind therm, and there won't really be any issues (or wrap your offending wheel in a plastic bag when in storage). The best dog bed I ever had was a crib mattress with an old blanket wrapped around it. The mattress was free, and totally thicker than any dog bed I could find. Reigning Cats & Dogs: 10 Sources for Stylish Pet Products |

This is what I was actually thinking. I mean, open bathroom, yes, but who wants to hang out on hard wooden seats so far away from, well, anything inviting about the room? You get to look in at someone using the bath and that's about it. It's not near the books, it's not near the wood stove, and it looks uncomfortable and sterile compared the rest of the room. I actually SIGNED IN to comment on this. I haven't done that in almost 6 months. Anyways, so for your media station, I would suggest boxes. Something you can label, so you can group together your printer paper, labels, clear stuff, envelopes, whatever. If you don't want to splurge for the cloth boxes, you can get really nice looking cardboard boxes from any office supply store to put up there to catch the clutter (or, like paste printed paper onto ordinary boxes). Plus, then you won't have to get your nice piles in disarray again trying to hunt for what you need. Dabney's January Cure: Week 4January Cure Diaries |

Bring with. Mine plays on the floor of the shower while I shower. The upside is that he gets clean, too. It takes a little longer because he wants to get picked up periodically to "touch the shower", but everyone is clean at the end of it. How's a New Mom Supposed to Get a Shower? |

@egilje We had a password too, although it was something like, "Your Uncle Floyd sent me" where "Uncle Floyd" was not at all the name of any uncle/aunt of the family. It was easier for me and my cousins to remember fake people than to remember fake words. We never had to use it, but it was nice having it around. I suppose in an emergency it could be given to a police man or something to pick us up, although we were always told how to identify authority figures. Tottoos (And How My Child Got Lost) |

I'm pretty sure that's what the sink and master bed/sofa/kitchen table is for. I don't see how having an additional something that generally doesn't do much of anything is going to help for those strapped with space. Small spaces mean you have to live without, not live with additional, limited-use items. The Gloob: The Multi-Purpose Small Space Saver |

To split the difference, just get another crib, but maybe the kind that is convertible to a toddler or twin bed in the future so that you don't have to make ANOTHER purchase down the road. Or, just keep your daughter in the bassinet for a while and then make the decision when she out grows that. My son was in his bassinet for a while.
