I'd be a little hesitant to purchase a white dutch oven, but perhaps I expose my cookware to more extreme conditions than the average person. That said, cleaning the inside of a dutch oven is enough of a task on its own. Fashion Meets Function: White Cast Iron Dutch Ovens |

I imagine it depends on what type of pasta you're making. I've made both denser country-style egg noodles as well as spaghetti and linguine using my KitchenAid. I run the dough through a press a couple of times before cutting it, which may help in getting the extra air out as suggested above. Can I Make Pasta in a Food Processor or Stand Mixer? As you inherited the pan, it's most likely already exceeded its warranty period. You can, in theory, just use a Dremel or sander to remove the coating and polish the surface underneath, but that's an awful lot of work just to save an old pan, and you may still have to seal or treat the polished surface to be able to use it for cooking again. They have good, strong flavor, but as VeryKerry mentioned, a tougher, fibrous texture. They're great in salads with other greens where their texture can be masked, but personally I wouldn't substitute them for chives when being used as a garnish by themselves. Look! Wild Onions in the Back Yard |

Just make sure to poke a few good holes into the pumpkin before placing it in the oven - I know too many people who've forgotten that step and then have had the squash explode when they go to cut it. Not a good way to enjoy fresh purée. Tip: Bake Pumpkins Before You Split Them Open |
