i am doing a 48 hour internet fast this weekend. the blogosphere and its snarkiness (not on this site, but on every other) is slowly eating my soul! that is one thing i appreciate about AT -- i can read through the posts and the comments without confronting an endless torrent of whining! i do feel that it is increasingly hard to listen to one's own thoughts with so much chatter, chatter, chatter on the web 24/7. nina - i just by accident discovered a natural dye to produce a lovely lilac colored sugar: black beans! i had some beans soaking overnight, and noticed in the morning that the water they were in became a dark purple color. this made me think of your post, and sure enough, a couple drops in some white sugar produced a lovely light purple. this is so helpful in planning for my housewarming tomorrow:) i stocked up on lots of yummy frozen apps from Trader Joe's.... no party would be complete without mini crabcakes and mini meatballs, and i like that i will be able to just pop another dozen in the oven (or not) if i need to (or don't).
