Amy, Weir's is still there!!!! I haven't been in there in a decade, but you are right ...they did pile the beds high with pillows and paterns and crap.

Remember the candy counter in the back...and all the Christian literature? That little drug store with the lunch counter is still there too.

Only in Highland Park...am I right?

Ok, I love this room, I really do. (yeah, all the trends are well represented)

I'm wondering if Wakako stalks The Brick House http://www.the-brick-house.com/

If she doesn't yet, I just introduced her to her new best friend.

OK, Let's see, questions to answer....

The sconces are from Restoration Hardware, we just hung them upside down. Clever, I know.

James & Jamie living here if that explains all the coats, (small closets, and no shame in owning a few jackets and boots.)

The big pillows spend most of thier lives piled in the corner, they come out for blog photo shoots. :) Sheeesh

We LOVE this room, and we're glad that y'all do too.

I am so in love with those perfectly organized clothes hanging on the plumbing pipe that it isn't even funny..........

I'll be dreaming of a place in my next house where I can do that....

Rest of the house...Stunning, just stunning.

I'm always amazed at the amount of people who feel the need to express what they don't like on this site.

That being said....your finished dresser is AWESOME.

I wish I had your talent and vision to take something so "old lady" and make it fresh, young, and just plain fun.

Thanks for sharing this project.

Absolutely LOVE this place, as I see everyone else does too.

The wood walls are my favorite part by a landslide.

Great space! Love all the pops of color...and the art placement.
Is that a bus roll blanket draped over the arm of the sofa?
If so......where can I get one?

Again,

We're kinda shocked to be so high up on this list of A-Ma-Zing blogs.

We are just 2 boys doing what we love to do.

Thanks for the votes, y'all!

YES, Paint the trim around the door and baseboards a clean, bright white semi-gloss.
Everyone who says NOT to, doesn't know what they are talking about.

De clutter, scrub that stove, and add cabinet hardware.....

Wall color is fine, (am I the only one who thinks so?)

Look into butcher block counter tops (very cost efficient)..and under counter puck lights (they plug in if wiring is an issue)

Rip out the tube lighting right now.... Seriously! RIGHT NOW! No one wants to buy a home with an institutional looking kitchen.

Both look great, HUGE improvements, no way I could have lived 9 years with that kitchen....but...

If there is a Miele dishwasher.....why am I looking at a dish drying rack taking up valuable counter space? And is that a microwave on the other counter? 90 grand couldn't find a place for a microwave?

Just curious......

Will everybody please check their "flag hanging rules" before moaning.....it is NOT backwards...that is the correct way to hang the flag vertically. The stars are ALWAYS in the upper Left.

Shheeesh, wasn't anyone else a Boyscout?

And I think it looks GREAT! How beautiful with the light coming through......

Colleencatcat,

We are going to replace it with a door with a window, but until we can afford it (we are remodel poor for the next year ) paint will be a cheaper solution.

Thanks for the brilliant idea!
