Oh, I'd forgotten about that map! I had it on a wall in my bedroom for years, through high school. It really was beautifully illustrated. Pauline Baines is one of my all-time favorite illustrators! Chronicles of Narnia 1st Edition Reissue: Pauline Baynes Illustrations (7 books) |

Sunnyblue: Thanks for the tip on how to put the cover on a duvet! Brilliant. You have made my life better, with that one posting! Small Changes, Serious Impact |

I agree with Designclaire about the practicality of the top sheet with a duvet. A friend taught me that trick a couple of years ago. It is still very easy to make the bed, but now I don't have to wash the duvet cover so often (and wrestle with getting the damn duvet back inside the cover!). On another note, just wondering: why "swap out" the showerhead? Why not just SWAP? (just one of the things that irritates the editor in me!) Small Changes, Serious Impact |

My youngest (now 22) LOVED another Elsa Beskow book, "Pelle's New Suit." It tells the story of Pelle, who needed a new suit, so he shears the wool of the sheep, and the wool is then carded, spun, dyed and woven. The beautiful illustrations fascinated her so much that she attempted to shear the cat...but that is another story! Loved reading these books to my kids when they were around 6 and older: "My Father's Dragon" (a great book for beginning readers to read on their own, with maybe a little parental help); "The Witches" by Roald Dahl; "Half-Magic" and the others by Edward Eager; books by Rumer Godden, such as "The Story of Holly and Ivy." You can't read too many or too often! My Favorite Children's Books Maxwell's Finds |

We always have on hand these flu essentials: a 6-pack of 7-Up, a few boxes of Lipton's Chicken Noodle Soup (not greasy at all), saltines, English Breakfast tea. When my kids left for college, I made sure they had these on hand ("Don't you dare use the 7-Up as a mixer!"). And I totally agree with purchasing the most deluxe tissues you can find! Why are you being so mean about the pants! She was kind enough to invite us into her office. Why so petty? I think the creative process is fascinating. I've seen Jenna's house featured on various blogs and while nice, it's too tidy for my personal taste. But this office is really cool! Thanks for sharing, Jenna. The Office of J. I love it--truly charming. But one thing I always wonder...why color-code books? Seems too contrived, somehow. But other than that (and heck, it's just a personal pet peeve, I guess), what a lovely home! Penny & Mark's Charming Family Home House Tour |
