1 piece star anise, is this one segment or one whole star anise? The photo shows one whole star anise, but by piece I am assuming you mean only one segment. Correct? Recipe: Masala Chai Tea |

I have to agree with Foodefafa. I find this fascinating because I buy a lot of Rancho Gordo beans and I hate that woman on their packaging. I think it is weird and it bothers me to look at her. I immediately take the beans out of their packages and put them in canning jars! Are You Ever Seduced by Packaging? |

I used to live in the most adorable carriage house in Port Townsend, WA. The surrounding gardens were amazing. It had a little fireplace, and everything was the perfect size for one person. Even a decent sized closet. The kitchen was the best part though. It was in the middle of the house and you could see out every window in the place from the kitchen. It was so well laid out. 5 Covetable Carriage House Kitchens |

I am normally the kind of person who is all for change, and I think the old site needed some updating. It looks very clean now. It has the feel of Epicurious, or MyRecipes which are very well organized and easy to navigate. I always thought The Kitchn had a little more personality than the other sites and was more than just a recipe clearinghouse. I'm sure I will get used to it though. The other layout made me feel like I was going to visit a friend, this design feels very impersonal. Welcome to (the New) The Kitchn! |

This combination is also amazing in a whole wheat tortilla as a quesadilla for a quick dinner. I usually add a little chipotle paste. Will have to try this though, sounds perfect. Recipe: Sweet Potato & Goat Cheese Bruschetta |

I also buy my spices in bulk from Penzey's and use this method. I use the smaller wide mouth 8 ounce jars and they work great for me. Best Spice Storage Solution: Mason Jars |

I quit magazines for six month last year. Then like any good addiction I purchased just one and then the next month two. Now they are teetering around my place in stacks again. I recently decided once again to quit. The motivator was that I was spending nearly $40 a month on cooking magazines alone. I'm putting that money away and in ten months I will buy myself an I-Pad on which I can read my magazines in a more environmentally friendly way. Who knows, maybe in the meantime I will decide I don't need them at all. On Saying Goodbye to Cooking Magazines |

You can also use strawberry powder or raspberry powder which imparts a little less earthy flavor. I love using blueberry powder which adds the best bright purple color. Recipe: Airy Angel Food Cupcakes with Naturally Pink Icing |
