I'm definitely among those who dislike cilantro. I love the recipes that usually call for cilantro, though, so I don't think it's simply a matter of not being exposed to that kind of cooking. Usually when we make those recipes, we just skip the cilantro, but has anyone come across a substitute herb that works well?

It seems like "satiety" is a fairly subjective thing to measure. It's part gastroenterology, part psychology. For example, I personally think a hard-boiled egg would be more filling as a mid-afternoon snack than an orange or an apple. I also find croissants more filling than chocolate bars. I'm sure that has a lot to do with my thinking about it, though.

Gentle Alarm is an Android (and presumably iPhone) app that I LOVE. I sleep with ear phones and an eye mask on (thank you downtown apartment), so the gradual light wouldn't work. Gentle Alarm gives you an alarm that you can program to start out at a very low volume and gradually increase until you wake up at a natural point in your sleep cycle.

I've also found that making myself go to bed when I start to feel tired instead of pushing through for the second wind works wonders. My body knows how much sleep I need, and it tells me, I just need to listen!

Cleveland may not seem like the best place to live, but I LOVE the West Side Market. We buy 90% of our groceries there, and it is fantastic. 30+ stands, each independently and locally owned, each stocking the best of everything - meat, dairy, produce, fish, bread, spices, and more. Kind of like a giant indoor farmer's market (but way more than produce).

Completely different from the typical "grocery store" experience, and many many times better (and cheaper in a lot of cases!).

LOVE the bull. Maybe we can roll the price into our mortgage...? ;-)

The second one looks like a roulette wheel - not such a fan. I guess if you're into the casino theme?

I agree, SF Chris. I have been looking at FitBit recently and it seems like it does pretty much everything Lark does, minus the vibrational wake-up, plus a lot more, for the same price.

However, it is good to see so many companies focusing on the importance of sleep for all-around well being. I think this is a topic that a lot of people tend to overlook. It's easy to say "I'll sleep when I'm dead." and not see the negative impact that it has on the rest of your life.

Definitely sounds like it's worth trying! I wonder, however, how much of the nutrition of the broccoli gets leached out by cooking it for so long? I've heard that even just boiling vegetables for 10 minutes can remove up to 60% of the vitamins - how much would be left after 2 hours?

I'm completely addicted to Papermate Profile 1.4B pens. Every time I try something else, I'm always disappointed. I love the extra-bold lines and smooth writing.

It looks like a pregnancy test from the outside... I'm all for making the most out of all the space available, but this is a little ridiculous, not to mention ugly.

I've never even considered not taking off my shoes when entering someone's home. Why make them clean up after anything I may have stepped in? It's common courtesy. I have considered bringing my own slippers or something, though. I'm actually attending a party tonight and will probably do that, now that I've read this post!

I definitely spend most of my time at my desk when I'm at home. We even just curtained off part of the living room so it could be closer to an actual "office". The chair is not very comfortable, but it's right next to the window, and my computer, so it's where I gravitate towards. Definitely know what you mean!

This is amazing!! I absolutely adore those drawer pulls - definitely worth the $10 just for those! The silver and blue looks great, too. Not a huge fan of the legs, but it looks like others love them, so I guess that's just personal preference.

Again, great find and awesome DIY!

Air-popped popcorn is healthy and I think it's considered a whole-grain. It's also light for your bag and makes a great snack!

Freeze-dried fruits and veggies would also last and be fairly light.

Michigan beers truly are the best!!

Last time we visited Traverse City we brought back a case and a half of Short's beer in the trunk since it's not distributed out of state (yet!)

And Oberon from Bell's is possibly my all-time number-one favorite beer. SO GOOD!!

This looks awesome! Can't wait to try it!

My favorite warm comfort food is Shepherd's Pie, though. My fiance and I have our own recipe that we've perfected over the years and it is always SOOO good!! Definitely made at least once a month during the fall and winter.

Am I the only one that thinks celery is absolutely disgusting?!

I can't stand it in anything! I can't even eat things like soup or stuffing that has celery in it because even that little bit of the flavor turns my stomach. I always just leave it out of recipes that call for it, or avoid those recipes entirely. It's also a good reason to make soup myself and not get canned - have you ever tried to find chicken noodle soup without celery? Impossible!

I agree that it would be nice to be able to buy only the amount that you need, though. With carrots and other veggies, too.

I and my fiance both have a bento-style lunchbox with an insulated tote from http://www.laptoplunches.com. We love them! Makes it super simple to plan out healthy lunches with just right portion sizes. He says his co-workers often comment on the lunches that I make for him (in a good way!) :-D
