I put in two Aquia IIs 3 years ago and have nothing but praise for them. Without ever having put in a toilet before, it was a piece of cake. I disagree it's not a DIY job, just follow the directions as it doesn't go in like a normal toilet.

As for the 'streaking', the simple and effective trick is to sit back further on the seat than you might normally so the mess ends up in the water, not on the dry part of the bowl. Very rarely does it require an extra clean up flush.

Dual flush is great, worth the extra expense for sure.

For $400 you can find any number of real 'top of the line' headphones, these are not them. These are over-priced, bass-heavy, and only above average in sound quality. If you want mega-bass, these are your ticket. If you want something at actually sounds great, try Grado, Beyerdynamic, Etymotic Research, UE, AKG, etc. I would hope you guys would give better recommendations then just something with a flashy ad campaign.

I recently replaced my water heater and researched tankless and ended up going with a hybrid electric heat pump, the new GE Geospring to be exact. It is 1/4 the price of a gas tankless and is a DIY install (for me anyway). Furthermore, I did the cost analysis it beat gas tankless heaters ($200 a year vs $220 for gas tankless). Lastly, with a family of 4 we can run it in heat pump only mode which is the most efficient option and should cost even less than $200/year to run.

I spent a morning with the Sonic's and I can say they are not worth the price. They are smooth sounding, but not detailed in the mids and highs as i'd expect for $200. Stick with Grados or other high end headphones for that price.

The Philips AmbientLED 60W equivalent is far and away the best LED I've seen. It's soft white (2700k) and is indistinguishable from an incandescent. Really the 'must-buy' when getting replacement bulbs at this point.

As mentioned above, it has dropped to $25 at HD and is a great buy. HD also has the 75W equivalent on their website as well, which is worth checking out. LED has arrived and is only going to get better.

As per the video, I guess I'm officially a bit of a light bulb nerd and have experience with a couple LEDs, some niche-ish CFLs & halogen lights. Contact me if you'd like. :)

First, it's great to see the LED light test articles appear to be an on-going series. It would be nice if the article also listed the color temp of the lights & CRI in the specs list.

Second, the control light isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison. A 23 watt CFL (about a 100 watt incandescent equivalent) is going to output something like 1600 lumens. Why compare the LED to that bulb, they would not be used in the same use-case. Since LED & CFL bulbs 'equivalent to' ratings are all over the map, it might be worth while to focus on the lumen output when comparing bulbs.

The Orca is simply a 4" full range speaker using about $120 worth of components. Seems like an easy DIY project for anyone that doesn't want to spend $550 on a full-range speaker.

Go with blow in insulation if you don't need a lot of access to what is under the insulation after it's done. I've done both batts (fiberglass) and blown in (green fiber), both are easy to do.
However, batts have a bad rap amongst greenies because if you don't install it right, you can end up with gaps that leak air and compressed spots that don't insulate as well as they should due to conduction. Both problems are easy to accidentally do because you're cutting it, moving it, etc.
Blown-in, on the other hand, is simple. Shoot it in until it's the desired thickness. :)

DIY Insulation: Best Method?

We are in the midst of a kitchen remodel as I type. :) I live in Portland, OR and our house was built in 1905. Our kitchen is galley style and is around 15x10 ft.

We bought custom plywood/hardwood cabinets and painted them ourselves. Countertop is quartz. I did the new wiring/electrical work, plumbing, various sheetrock repairs/insulation the tile backsplash. We are having the existing walls skim coated with new plaster professionally. We already have the appliances so no cost there. The floor is newish so we didn't change that either. All in all, we are coming in around 9k. Our estimates were about 8k.

I've been using an Apple TV 2 over wifi for Netflix streaming for a while and I've never had it need to buffer once. I'd follow other's comments and return it as it seemed defective.
