Maybe paint the inner part of the (outside)of the drawer, where the hardware is, white to make it pop more? I actually have a side table that I've revamped that is very similar in style and color as yours. Very nice!

I think this home is so fluid that it's incredible. Every little detail looks hand-tailored to the home. The color scheme is a bit dark for my tastes, but it just works here and looks very natural. As far as the nudes- in the credits it says that he took them himself, so I think it's pretty cool that he's featured his own art. It's obviously something he is passionate about (as many people are). Also, Kubrick is an amazing director and Lolita is an incredible film. Not to mention that the poster is aesthetically pleasing in the space.

I really hope that the Goodbye and Hello were incorrectly labeled...

If you could find a glass top that might fit over the top and some sort of textile that you like and that would go well with the rest of your decor, you could easily have a unique top to the desk (antique and thrift stores will often have discarded glass table tops at reasonable prices). Other than that, maybe pick one color to apply to the rest of the desk. You could even get funky and wallpaper inside the drawers or in that area below where your legs go.
I also do agree with fisheggs that it might look quite a bit more modern with some metal legs instead of the panel if you don't mind making that kind of structural change.
