I'm talking about the actual furnishings, not the "expensive vs. cheap" blog idea. Brown leather couch, sheepskin, and the exact same canister and elephant from Target. Seems like too much of a coincidence. One Design, Two Budgets: Swank 70s Living Room |

This seems pretty suspiciously close to what Dana of House*Tweaking posted on her Target sponsored post. Just saying. One Design, Two Budgets: Swank 70s Living Room |

I have my TV on top of a single horizontal IKEA Expedit bookcase which is pretty low to the ground but it's beyond perfect. I don't look up at all, it's eye level when I sit on the couch. It makes going to my friend's house horrible though, since her TV is mounted about the fireplace and it hurts my neck. Anne & Steve’s Architectural Live/Work Space House Tour |

Why is overexposing so trendy now? So many house tours I see are FILLED with overly white photos. I'd rather see a yellow dingy photo of a room that gives me a clear view of it all than a bright white picture that makes half the room invisible. Amy's Light & Bright Small Space House Tour |

My landlord just replaced a stand-alone dishwasher for us. It's a pain in the butt to hook up to the sink but hey, it beats not having one at all! Countertop Dishwashers Renters Solutions |

Hmm I know your place isn't as long, but could you possibly turn your bed sideways and put your couch at the end of it, a la this (AMAZING) studio house tour: http://theeverygirl.com/feature/nikki-rappaports-washington-d-c-studio-home-tour/ How To Lay Out Space in a Teeny Tiny Studio? Am I the only one that just wants the couch to line up with the bed? I'd probably push it all the way back against the bed to increase the "living room" and use the black table as a TV stand or a desk against the wall the couch is facing. Before & After: Samna Transforms a Studio in 5 Days |

We did this at my grandparents house without pillows/mattresses/cardboard! Just like @1001petals describes. It was so fun as a kid, but I remember trying it again as a 11 or 12 year old and my older body was NOT happy with me. Plus my grandpa just looked on in disapproval. Ha! It was a holiday tradition for my family growing up. All us cousins (6-7 of us) would pile into my aunt's van and she'd drive us around the neighborhood and the city for over an hour or two just looking at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve while all the adults back home got some peace and quiet. It's still one of my favorite memories and I hope to do it with my kids someday! Can I Borrow A Cup Of Cheer?: Mooching Off The Neighbors' Decorations |

I have the Philosophy Butterscotch body wash and I love it. You can smell it in the shower but it's not like I go around smelling like candy all day. It's just a nice, sweet way to wake up in the morning. On Non-Food Gifts That Smell Like Food: Is It a Yea or a Nay? |

I agree about gift cards. I'll do it as a last minute thing, but try to avoid it for people I'm really close to. Finding gifts for loved ones is supposed to be fun! I love finding stuff that's "so them" and it makes the holidays special. 10 Online Gift Cards for the Hard to Please |

I had a single big sink in my last apartment and LOVED it. Now I have a dual sink and it drives me nuts because I can never fit all my pots and pans in it, and it requires a lot of faucet shifting to clean both sides. Definitely will own a sink like this when I have my own place someday. Glenn and Paula's Farmhouse Kitchen Kitchen Tour |

The days I mope about being in the midwest, I'm just going to come back and read how much rent cost in the big cities. I'm renting a huge 1bdrm / den / office / 1.5 bath house 5 minutes from downtown Cincinnati and it cost $900/mo. I could buy a house for less than $75K. At what point is the culture and convenience of downtown living really worth it? I'm starting to become extremely grateful I left Boston for Cincinnati when I did. I love the idea of a library. Just shelves and shelves of books and curated items. Not sure how structurally sound it is, but if you put little ladder rungs on the side, you could have a pillow pit of sorts on top of the nook! I'm pictures lots of pillows and fabrics to make it feel homey and inviting. I think it'd be an awesome place to relax and read. Ideas for Weird Nook in New Loft? Good Questions |
