The New Traditional seems to be less fussy than Traditional. And all historical period are accepted including a nod to 50's mid-century modern. The bedside table looks alot like pieces by Barbara Barry. These rooms are not possible on an AT budget.

I have the same problem, so I hung an oversized (I mean large 4'H x 5'W) framed piece of art on the wall overlapping the door. It makes the door disappear & none of my friends even notice. And if the room allows, it could become a great headboard!

Jacob,
Its up to your salesmanship skills. Your landlord has has demonstrated very little interest in spending money past the bargain basics. If you sell him on the increased value that your proposed changes will bring to the place, you may have a chance. Good luck.

There's so much here to like! Too many details everywhere to mention--underside of the stair finished with bamboo, floating cubes in the bathroom, lantern office, etc. The continuous ribbon element is clever and stunning. I could live here!
