I felt the blues this year, especially with many dreary days happening here in the Southeast. So when I put away our Christmas decorations, I decided to take up a few good wintry DIYs. Like new candle holders in gold and silver, a new painting with white and gold, just some nice touches that will be new to us, still festive, but doesn't scream "Deck the Halls". It's giving me something fun to look forward to seeing around the house. Also, working on a Winter Playlist. Cozy, fireplacey songs that still give me reason to want to curl up with tea and enjoy the season. How Do You Deal with the Post-Holiday Blues? |

I rarely love every room in a house, but every part this is lovely! The color palette is to die for, and I love the use of the space and light. Love it. Amy's Pearl District Remodel House Call |

I've done this on doors as well by securing the ribbon on the top of a door (when applicable, like closet doors, etc.) with a white push-pin. Super easy and leaves very little evidence. : ) Hang a Wreath on a Cabinet Door (The Easy Way) Lemonade |

Love the article. Your list is very similar to mine, although I will say I've dropped real books entirely for the iPad. It's completely changed the way I fly (which I do relatively often, for work). It holds my magazines, books, my music!, email, lists, work pdfs, flight itinerary, news... love it. I also take a pen and notebook (thin moleskin, usually) to write when we aren't allowed to have electronics on (a perk). The Top 10 Things To Carry With You When You Fly |

Such a lovely concept and post. It totally resonates with why I read AT. I come here, in part, because I am a newlywed with a new life and home that needs obvious care and decor. The other reason I adore AT is because it constantly pushes and encourages me to create a life I love - for myself, for my husband, for our friends and family. Thank you so much for this series! I've been an avid reader of AT for months and work in a highly creative environment, but I don't have any formal education/training in design or decor. I've always wanted to know more about design eras and movements, but I didn't really know where to start without digging through tons of literature. This is a fabulous way for me to learn the history and approaches in a pretty concise way. I think it's fascinating, but not overwhelming. Thanks again! Bring on Art Deco! I always leave our bedroom open to guests. It's one of our two bathrooms, so when we have several people over, it's nice to have both options available. Is Your Bedroom Off-Limits to Guests? |

I would go with the Petrie sofa because I prefer split cushions, and I think it's visually the most inviting without sacrificing sophistication. The rest are still beautiful to look at, but I'd be hesitant to sit on them and relax. Which Of These Couches Should I Choose? Good Questions |

The thing I love most about this is that it came from somewhere special. Somewhere with history and soul. Love what Dana has done with her home - makes me wish I wasn't a renter! DIY Fence Board Headboard House Tweaking |

Love this. My step-dad used these as our desks about 10 years ago, and I've since adopted it in my own home. We used adjustable wall braces to support the door, which worked pretty well but can only take much weight toward the back without fear of flipping. Love that you featured it, though! I've never, ever had a fake tree having grown up in Western Pennsylvania where evergreens abound. And I have to say the biggest pro, in my opinion, for a real tree is the smell. That real tree smell - part balsam, part citrus - is incredible. It's Christmas. Something you can't recreate with a candle or a spray. Artificial Tree vs. Real Tree: Pros and Cons |

I also have used the old fashioned pomander in my recipe for hot cider, which gives it a lovely, spicy flavor for the Fall and Winter. And it makes the house smell downright delish! Citrus Season: Scents, Decor & Cleaning |
