I recently read an article on NPR's site comparing various diet plans. I'm not sure if you're boyfriend is on Atkins or another low-carb paleo diet, but Atkins came in very low on the long term success scale and overall weight loss scales. I usually use a rag to wipe off as much paint as possible, then let my brushes soak in a container of soapy water overnight. It makes a BIG difference with the amount of running water I need later. If I'm dealing with tough paints or varnishes, I'll use odorless mineral spirits. The mineral spirits aren't totally green, but once the paint settles in the bottom, you can pour off the excess spirits and use it many more times. A little goes a long way. I've reused the same spirits for up to a year by keeping them in a sealed coffee can. Also, it saves a lot of paint from going down the drain by disposing of the settled paint at a hazardous waste collection site. Is Washing Out Paintbrushes Worth All That Water? Good Question |
