I use Zillow on my iphone whenever I get curious about house prices, or what's recently sold in my area. It's addicting!

I totally agree about the cowhide rugs - I never understood that one.

We're also in an SB building downtown, and we haven't had any problems with the developer. We don't, however, have a separate patio area and I'm COMPLETELY jealous--especially of those wonderful planter boxes! Great use of the space, it's very clean and organized yet personal and comfortable. Lovely!

I'm interested to hear it's located in the South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle. That area has changed so much since I lived in Seattle, it's an amazing transformation--before I would never have envisioned a new West Elm there, but now with the Streetcar and Amazon and everything else, it seems like a perfect location.

How am I only the second person to comment?? These are hilarious! I guess living out of the country and not having a TV left me out of the loop. Thanks for sharing.

Anyone know who sings the song in the last commercial? I have a good friend from Walla Walla and desperately need to know... thanks!

I love the particle board + vintage teacup idea -- I have a few of my grandmothers' old sets, but was at a loss how to display them. This is fantastic!

I just noticed that they're selling white eiffel chairs today on the Foundary, $180 for a pair that they say usually sells for $420. You have to sign up to see them (I think) but here's the link: http://shop.thefoundary.com/product_31811.html.

Along the lines of toilet paper, my favorite housewarming gift (to give) was a plunger tied with a big bow. They loved it, showing it off to all the other guests, and genuinely thought it was hilarious. We gave them a bottle of wine too, just in case!

I saw a version of this at a Free People store recently, except they used neon colors instead of white and hung them from the ceiling. I prefer the white, but both look great!

When I lived in a village in the Dominican Republic my neighbor next door (a sweet older woman) would send her granddaughter over with a cup of coffee for me every morning, and I'd chat with them on their front steps some nights. It was lovely, and made me feel so much safer. :)

Now that I'm back in LA (and renting an apartment), I've made an effort to at least chat with my neighbors and I know most of them by name, but we're not yet at a point where we actually do things together. Someday! I did borrow an iron from my neighbor next door last week, and it was good to know I could go to her in a pinch.

4 of 10 are under $100 -- thank you! It's nice to focus on the cheaper finds too, and appreciated.

Love it! When I lived in Boston all my favorite pieces of furniture were sidewalk finds, too. Not so here in Los Angeles. Good luck!

Kristen - Lovely apartment! Good luck in the Peace Corps, too. I served in the Caribbean and absolutely loved finding creative ways to decorate/furnish my little house with found objects without spending any money. I'm sure you'll come up with something amazing!
