While I will agree that some of the photos seem contrived, the slightly irreverent vibrancy of the home is just up my alley.

Three cheers for far more affordable products. I doubt Anthro will lower their prices because of demand, but that's fine with me. I'll continue supporting the small business and artisan community while saving myself lots of pretty pennies.

Boring and grown up are not synonymous. You can be tons of fun and exude class and maturity.

I think something happens to a lot of people when they have kids. Their mindsets go from in the now to 18 years from now. Life changes speed and direction. They want to appear in control (though any parent will tell you it's a thin facade) so their kids respect them. They want to set good living examples for them. The outward appearance of our homes reflect who we want to be and who we want our kids to be.

Putting the silverware handle up causes a huge mess when trying to extract just one. Personal experience here. I reuse (this is technically reuse) pretty much all jars I get because they're better than plastic storage containers. Not to mention they're nice looking. Also artist pastels work great on them for fast, washable labels.

I'm so thrilled a tiny home made it in this year. I'm a huge fan of these small houses on trailers. Who is the builder or was it self made? The details are brilliant. I especially love the separate shower area made from a planting barrel(?). So many tiny homes have a wet bath. That gives me the heebie jeebies!

To all those curious about storage, a huge part of tiny living is getting rid of most of your things. I'm sure this couple has plenty of room. There's a sizable closet (tiny home wise), and a lot of these homes have storage in the loft floor accessible by trap doors.

I love Kroger a lot. Their generic brands are phenomenal above the FMV level. They're also everywhere in North Texas, which helps. Some are better than others, of course. They stock by local need. We need more specialized goods due to dietary needs so I have to travel an additional five miles to one across town but it's so worth it.

For me, granite and stainless kitchens went out of date within a year of becoming popular. They got old very fast due to the coldness of them. Stainless appliances can be gorgeous but never the two together.

Really, I can never see those vessel sinks being timeless due to the difficulty of cleaning them. I've heard nothing but complaints from friends who have them or clean houses that have them.

Yeah, but then you're item smells like kitty litter, which is probably one of the most offensive smells I know. Sunshine is my favorite. But if you're in a hurry, a bowl of water with a smidge of vinegar works great. The vinegar smell dissipates completely in roughly an hour if you don't mix it too strongly.
