While I will agree that some of the photos seem contrived, the slightly irreverent vibrancy of the home is just up my alley. The Roeders' Modern Life is Beautiful House Tour |

I have about 12 hanging above my tv and love them. I mixed in a few hand carved items given to us by family and it looks so nice. Of course, I have a sort of modernist granny style so it works. Reinventing the (Embroidery) Wheel |

Three cheers for far more affordable products. I doubt Anthro will lower their prices because of demand, but that's fine with me. I'll continue supporting the small business and artisan community while saving myself lots of pretty pennies. The Etsy Challenge: Anthropologie Looks for Less |

Crunchy clothes only happen when your clothes aren't fully rinsed and soap stays behind. Or you have absolutely no wind that day. Try switching to a soap that won't leave residue or using less in the wash. Most people use way too much soap. Depending in your water you can get by with as little as 1/4 a capful. I prefer overall cohesiveness in a space. The countertop material doesn't matter so much as how it comes together. That said, granite will be my last resort as I don't really like the feel of it. Kitchen Countertop Preference: Get Better with Age or Stay Looking Brand New? |

I love love love granny florals. There. I said it. Shame the first UO curtain is $44. I'd probably pay half that for it. Showers & Flowers: Floral Shower Curtains Under $50 |

Interesting...This kind of arrangement would make cleaning so much easier. Of course, I'm not sure this arrangement would work with mutual children involved. You need someone to back you up as a parent. Autonomous and Committed: Living Apart Together |

Putting the silverware handle up causes a huge mess when trying to extract just one. Personal experience here. I reuse (this is technically reuse) pretty much all jars I get because they're better than plastic storage containers. Not to mention they're nice looking. Also artist pastels work great on them for fast, washable labels. 5 Decorative Uses for the Versatile Glass Jar in the Kitchen |

I'm so thrilled a tiny home made it in this year. I'm a huge fan of these small houses on trailers. Who is the builder or was it self made? The details are brilliant. I especially love the separate shower area made from a planting barrel(?). So many tiny homes have a wet bath. That gives me the heebie jeebies! Malissa's Perfect Retreat Small Cool Contest |

Agreed, Pi. Also, the idea of a separate room for each child is a very new, very American concept. These homeowners may believe like I do that there are many benefits to sharing a room. There is less cost, more lessons on sharing, and an environment that encourages the use of family spaces over private. Three's Company: Tips for Creating Rooms for 3 Or More Kids |

I love Kroger a lot. Their generic brands are phenomenal above the FMV level. They're also everywhere in North Texas, which helps. Some are better than others, of course. They stock by local need. We need more specialized goods due to dietary needs so I have to travel an additional five miles to one across town but it's so worth it. The Best and Worst Supermarkets Consumer Reports |

I love chalkboard paint to the extent that we painted my son's Ikea Kura with it. It's the coolest bed in our apartment complex. All the kids envy his room because I put forth the effort to make every surface possible a place to create. Personally, I see chalkboard paint hanging around for a long time, despite the "enough alreadys." There's something about the versatility and interactiveness of it that speaks to me. For me, granite and stainless kitchens went out of date within a year of becoming popular. They got old very fast due to the coldness of them. Stainless appliances can be gorgeous but never the two together. Today's Remodeling Choices: Overblown Trends or New Classics? Renovation Topics |

Yeah, but then you're item smells like kitty litter, which is probably one of the most offensive smells I know. Sunshine is my favorite. But if you're in a hurry, a bowl of water with a smidge of vinegar works great. The vinegar smell dissipates completely in roughly an hour if you don't mix it too strongly. I, too, prefer the white. I would have gone wider for a more modern kick since the thinner stripes seem kinda 80's to me. But that's just personal preference. Traditional Painted Matte/Pearl Stripes Color Therapy |
