I just spoke to my plumber about all the black in my bathroom sink drain. He said it's not mold but TOOTHPASTE! Apparently, it doesn't fully dissolve and turns black. He recommended flushing the drain periodically with hot water. How to Get the Stink Out of My Sink? Good Questions |

I had a young opossum get into my basement and then it climbed up the stairs into the kitchen. To get him out, my husband and I lined up boxes on the floor to create a chute/path from the kitchen, through the living room, and out the front door. It worked! He ran out and leaped off the front porch. We also have had birds fly down the chimney twice but we just left the fireplace doors open and front door wide open. I had two outlets added to my living room for $35. With an outlet, you can get the lamp you really like! Contact the electrician who did the big job for you---surely he/she will throw in wiring an extra outlet for not too much $$. I post on Freecycle quite a lot. My local Goodwill is pretty particular about what they'll take, but I donate sometimes to them and also to Purple Heart Veterans. I also drop off clothing at the local St. Vincent de Pauls collection box. I donate books to my local library; they sell what they don't want and use the proceeds for their collection and programs. We have trained our cat not to sit on any furniture and also not to go upstairs where the bedrooms are. (Part of what made this cat training possible is that I work from home) My husband is highly allergic to cats, but I love animals, so this was our solution. Fortunately, we have a very smart cat! I shared a room with my older sister out of necessity until I was nine. I don't remember minding at all. She is only a year older than I am and up to that point we did most things together and even had the same friends. Then our family moved to a larger house where we each had our own rooms. I think the separate rooms just at the onset of adolescence changed our relationship---we grew apart.
