Oh yeah, paint the cabinets. Just keep in mind that bright, bold, trendy colors are fun but you may want to limit them to the easier to paint/change walls and accent accessories. Trust me that the work involved in painting the cabinets isn't something you're going to want to reproduce when you get tired of the trend. Go with a white, off white or other appropriate neutral..just remember to be aware of the undertones in your counter and choose something that doesn't clash with it. Changing up the hardware and as everyone else has said losing the scalloped piece will make an amazing difference. The rest will be so much fun...and the difference will be astonishing. Please post pics!.

While beautiful, the photo above is a Feng Shui nightmare. Never, ever sleep under an exposed beam. From the subconscious POV it'threatens you' while you are vulnerable(asleep). Other than that problem it is a tranquil and inviting space.

Umm...yak. Read the text first and was pretty excited about the project. Removing the wallpaper and cleaning up the trim was a great improvement. The painting was a great source for inspiration and the paint and such sounded really great but in the end I was less than delighted. Glad you're pleased with the result cuz that's what really counts.

The trick with green, any green is to find the shade you like and then look for a paint that is more grey or brown. Color perception, particularly in a wall color is dictated by the other colors you use in the room and just about everything makes green look greener. The more wall area you have the greener everything will make it look so, just go easy on the intensity and it's simple.

I once did my bedroom in a deep maroon with a high gloss finish. While it was interesting and I enjoyed the red I found that the glossy finish was an unfortunate choice. I ended up repainting the room in the same color but with a flat finish. I found the matte finish more relaxing and it complimented the soft burnished finishes of the framed artwork and textures of the fabrics much better. Less competition for attention I guess.Though I understand the notion of pairing a dark color with a finish that will bounce the light around I think that adequate lighting will do the job better and will give you more control over what you want to draw attention to.
