Fantastic. And the kitchen? It's HUGE for a NYC apartment - actually a real room, not a closet-sized area, with space to turn around and enjoy other people in there. The garden is to die for, I'd live out there all the time in warm weather. I'd love to see his next place too - please? Alex’s Cozy Garden Apartment in Brooklyn House Tour |

Totally agree about the mounted animal heads. A beautiful piece of art would have complimented this room far better - just my opinion, of course, but the mounted head looks too trendy. Otherwise, I love the entire space! Eunice's Clean & Well-Lit Place House Tour |

Very cute but the garland that drapes from the ceiling to the edge of the crib is an accident just waiting happen -- choking, among other things. Same with having the crib so close to the curtains on the window - child can pull them down and possibly harm herself. Parents need to look at a child's room from the eyes of safety, not just what's pretty, when putting it together. Marlowe's Bright Bohemian Room Kids Room Tour |

If you've ever been in a 250 square foot apartment - and based on what the writer shared - then if there's hardly room for them to sleep, it's likely that space for their luggage will also be uber-tight. Individual, of course, but a space that small, even for a few days, can wear on everyone there. Overnight Guests: Can You Just Say No? Reading My Tea Leaves |

Don't know where you live in Brooklyn, but as a fellow New Yorker that's the biggest kitchen I think I've ever seen in the city (and I've been in some very pricy homes). I like the 'after' much better - lighter and more modern - and if you have the money to change up what is already a reasonably nice kitchen, then more power to you! (I would have done the same as you did). I don't get the criticisms about "why tear out a perfectly good kitchen". She didn't like it and there may have been things we can't completely see from the pics, so what's up with all the hating? (perhaps jealously?) Absolutely stunning! Funny that your painter advised against a dark color paint when many top-line interior designers/decorators advise FOR it. It's why you see powder rooms often done in rich jewel-tone colors - it envelopes you rather than being a small room that's dull.Adore every piece of furniture. Well done you! Love, love, love. Clean and simple without a bare or stark feeling. Not a fan of putting a desk in the bedroom, though, for energetic reasons but yours works and blends beautifully (and yes, I understand that might be the only space you have). So very well done! Love what's been done here. I live in NYC and have seen how easy it is for small apartments to be dull and dank. The grey color is fresh and a nice change from ivory. I know the bed position has been debated, but I like that it's not the first thing you see when you enter the apartment. And if it works for the gal who lives here, that's all that matters. Not crazy about the burlap in the kitchen because of how it could absorb smells. Lastly, I love your blog...but I had to laugh at how you call NYC "The City" instead of New York City to sound like a local. I've been here almost 20 years and have never heard that. We simply call it New York! Before & After: Samna Transforms a Studio in 5 Days |

Such an incredible example of a house that has been impeccably curated yet without the sterile feeling that can sometimes result from such attention. The orange is fabulous - and a color that works across a range of design styles. I too would love to see the floor plan to see how the house flows. Steven's Relocated Beach Cottage House Tour |

I loved it as it was before. A fresh lampshade would have made it really work. It's one of those vintage pieces that I think should have been left alone. Before & After: A Brassy to Classy Lamp Re-do 33 Shades of Green |

I love it! The white floors completely make the place -- do you own or did your landlord allow the change? Please post more pics! Louisa Makes the Most of 400 Square Feet House Call |

valentino1, I've lived in NYC 15+years and yet to see a carpeted floor. Rugs? Yes, but not carpet. Just checked NYC Housing Law and it's not illegal to have uncarpeted floors...some leases do require rugs, but not all. I've been in my place for 14+ years and none of my leases require rugs or carpet (and I'm on the top floor). Lauren's Tiny 400-Square-Foot Cozy Apartment Green Tour |

As a child, my house had a wood storage unit built next to the fireplace that almost looked like a matching fireplace to the real thing -- it even had a door to the outside so you could easily load wood in. And we never had any bug/termite problems (lived there for my entire life and my parents lived there many more years once I left home) at all. Function on Display: Firewood |

Agree with all about the chairs and suggest getting "ghost" acrylic chairs as they would not "eat" up more space visually. Larger art piece as suggested and a more interesting centerpiece and pillows. Need some good color in there in the art and pillows, something warm and bright. LOVE the kitchen and so glad to see that you've left it intact - no painting of the cabinets or ripping them out! Feels so warm and organic. Kitchen Tour: Devorah and Larry Combine Forces |

I see you've addressed the sofa agains the wall issue, but given that you can't really move it, could you at least pull it away by 6 inches? One rule of thumb for beautiful homes is that nothing "kisses" the walls so tightly and while I appreciate your tight space (I live in something just as small), you should be able to add a few inches in there as well as with some other places. My mother put wallpaper in al the bathrooms in our home in the late 1960's and it held beautifully with no problems. It was a type of wallpaper that could be wiped down too so it made for easy cleaning. (Also, these were bathrooms with no windows, so no problems from the steam).
