By far, one of my favorites! Excellent editing eye. Superb mix of high/low & vintage vs. new.

BRAVO!

That workshop is something I dream of.

I was going to write an opus on my domestic stigmata but, I realized it would take 20 minutes so I...

1. Surface cleaned living room and kitchen (pick up stray items, dust, sweep, vacuum)

instead.

I love the Wayne Thiebaud print. He's my all time fave.

Great space!

I recommend a trip to St. Louis if anyone reading is entertaining the idea. The city is beautiful & the trip is economical. The Art Museum is a must.

Great post, I ACTUALLY had to Google this a few weeks ago. You would be amazed about how convoluted the instructions could get. This is simple an to the point. Thank you.

Thank you for maintaining the dignity and history of the home. I love the subtle updates.

I LOVE old homes and am usually horrified to see a DWR showroom inside after a "restoration".

Beautifully done and obviously filled with love and care.

eh..

Yes, it is beautiful but, this is more of a
"Look what I can BUY!"
than a
"Look what I can DO" statement.

The chickens are cool.

Please don't paint the brick. It's gorgeous and its timeless.

The dark windows make the house look modern but the shutters give a mixed message. I suggest removing the shutters to make the house look more cohesive. You might decide to keep the color.

I would also paint the door a bold color. Maybe Eggplant, or Navy.

Ants leave a scent trail (to communicate with other ants). I have always just wiped the trail (wearing household cleaning gloves) with lemon juice. Then use sections of the peel and twist (like you would for a Martini) along the trail to release the oils. The acidity and the scent keeps pests away.

Plus it makes your kitchen smell good.

This works for other household pests too. Like on counter tops.

Beautiful Place. I have a similar esthetic. I disagree with some of the comments about the quality of the photos. This site is about apartments and inspiration not about photographic how-to. I do agree about the Ikea Chair in the room. I love a chair in the room, just not that one. Kudos to a lite and airy atmosphere in a city full of dark and lifeless apts.

No matter what, store employees CANNOT touch your photography equipment, cell phone or person.

I say snap away! I do it to other retailers. Other retailers do it to us. We aren't going to COPY it, we are going to "re-invent" it.

I appreciate great design they appreciate great design, we ALL appreciate great design.

If they get surly, pull out a small sketch pad and draw a quick doodle with notes, there isn't a thing they can do about it.

I bought a couple of old chemistry sets at antique shows and flea markets. They make a beautiful 'simple' presentation at a fraction of the cost of contemporary vases.

How about just a nice pile of large smooth clean river stones around the base. I would leave the wall alone and focus on the base. I love the antique look and I like the minimalism of it standing alone. I wouldn't want to distract from it (aside from some art in the room)

I recommend a nice neutral paint color. (I know 'thank you Capt. Obvious') I like Pratt and Lamberts "Muffin Tan". It's subtle and tones down the brightness of the stark white. Plus, it will balance the color of the sink. I agree with the Vinyl clings but try it on the side of the large mirror. Finally, I am a huge fan of trays. Try a medium size vintage aluminum or mirrored tray for accessories or sundries. This will cover some of the counter.

Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | LA Good Question: How To Add Life To This Rental Bathroom?
4/1/08 2:54 AM

I would paint the living room all one color. Something soft to make it feel larger also, use an egg shell finish paint to diffuse the light and give an airy feeling. I gotta go with the rug suggestions also. Maybe a flokati in a neutral shade.

Any warm accessories or collections to personalize the space more?

Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: Decorating Options for the Living Room?

I suggest something a little more ornate. The lines of the bed are simple and clean. Go for antique Empire style cabinets. They have clean lines and mix well with more modern furniture. Most have a drawer at the top and a door underneath. I have even seen some with marble tops. You can refinish to match the decor or paint to blend in.

The antique nesting chickens above your sink are an amazing touch. They are beautiful and rural-chic. I have never seen a bunny tho. Now I am obsessed with finding a bunny.
