@SherryBinNH - Right on! This is one post. ONE POST. Having disingenuous outrage over your children's lost innocence over seeing the word 'porn' and derisively taunting someone over the breakup of a long partnership are infinitely more stupid than this post, imho. I absolutely adore this home. I am one who generally prefers more color, but this is so serene and uncluttered. The lighting throughout is what really makes it for me. Also, any house with a Vader cone fireplace = instant love from me! Sean & Sara's Minimal Americana House Tour |

I think it works fantastically! I would never have considered that color combination, but something about it is eminently pleasing to me. Before & After: Brightly Painted Porch & Front Door Color Color Therapy |

Very clever use of space! For me, I would have to remove the door though. I would maybe use curtains to visually cut it off, but still have a more open feeling when working. Before & After: Melissa's "Cloffice" on a Budget Shoestring Magazine |

Wow! I didn't realize we were part of a whole dang phenomenon! Lol. My husband and I totally had an IKEA meltdown at the Round Rock one. Not in the store, but boy did we let each other have it when we got back to the car! For some reason, that one is just awful. Like Walmart on steroids. We recently went to the one in Phoenix and had a grand ole time. There didn't seem to be less people or anything, it was just such a different vibe. IKEA Meltdowns: Do They Happen To You? |

I actually prefer the before - as the poster above says, too much cement vs. greenery. Although in all fairness, I would kill for either of these. Garden Before & After: Carolyn's Pretty Natural Pond Pool Garden The Gardenist |

To anyone who is thinking of using 3M command hooks: I have never had a good experience with them. I have plaster walls, and don't wish to anchor every little thing I hang, and thought these might be a good solution. I used the heavy duty ones to hang a series of nine small (5x7) framed prints up. I followed the directions as written and here is what happened: two frames fell that same day, followed by another by the end of the week. At this point, my hubby and I were betting on how long the it would take the rest to fall. He won. I figured there would still be at least one still up by the end of the month, but alas, no go. Like most other posters, I lived in an approx. 390 sq ft studio. It was mostly by myself, but my then-fiance would come and stay over for stretches at a time. We didn't have a pet at that time, so for us it was pretty comfortable. Now he works from home and we have a cat. We have actually sat down and worked out that, based on our current needs, we would do best in a well laid-out 500 sq ft. one bedroom + enclosed study plan, with at least an 80 sq ft enclosed private outdoor space. Anything less would be too uncomfortable. How Small is the Smallest Space You've Ever Called Home? Reader Survey |

We sacrificed size, although in the opposite direction most people do. When we found our house, it was perfect in just about every way, with the exception of it being larger than the upper limit of size we were looking for. We really wanted a small cozy house, but it was hard finding a house smaller than 1000 sq ft with 1.5-2 baths. The house we chose is almost 1400 sq ft, and is pretty painful for me to keep clean, but I truly do appreciate having the second full bathroom!
