I like those cribs, especially for small spaces, but they must get dirty quickly, no? 2012 Trends: Lucite Furniture in the Nursery? |

I have no idea if this would work but could you maybe try weaning her onto another coping/soothing mechanism? Ie: a blanket or a stuffed animal? Im not for these "soothing/coping" habits at all but if you want to stay away from making her feel ashamed and you dont want to use a deterent like hot sauce then it could possibly work. Anytime you catch her with her thumb in her mouth politely ask her not to do it anymore - you could even explain that her teeth are growing in funny - and then give her a blanket or a doll. You'd have to be VERY consistent, though. Breaking the Thumb Sucking Habit Good Questions |

I have the jenny lind crib which is list at 53.5" but that might be a tight fit. I like the montessori floor bed idea. Ohdeedoh has featured some beautiful montessori nurseries. It almost seems like you might have to go the minicrib route if you have a budget of 300$ or less. Why are you shying away from the minicrib? It seems like it would look quite nice and it would for sure make your 8x8 room look much larger. My other suggestion is hunt on www.wayfair.com by price and start reading the measurements of the ones you like. You are sure to find SOMETHING that you love. AND wayfair ships for free within the US. If you are Canadian and live near a border town have it shipped to the nearest UPS store on the US border and go pick it up. Thats what I do. My great-grandfather would climb up onto the roof, lean over the fire place and yell "ho ho ho" and ring bells. Then he'd walk around the roof so it sounded like Santa was up there. I would leap out of bed and run to the livingroom and somehow my great-grandfather would be sitting there in his chair smiling. He'd always say to me "You missed him again, Senorita,". Thats what he called me. Senorita. I dont know why. He was polish. What Are Your Favorite Holiday Memories? |

I'd have to agree with therinrins. It looks pretty fragile. As for the mariage of natural materials and high-tech: I'm not a stickler for those kinds of details but it somehow seems "wrong" but I am not sure why. The substance in a battery is far from safe for the environment and I thought that was one of the perks of all natural wood toys. Adding a motorized part of a wood toy also allows for less development of imagination. Cool idea, however fragile and I doubt it will appeal to those parents who love the all natural material toys.
