We use the Ikea Trones: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30110832/ They're plastic but not shiny. We like the plastic because it's easy to clean. We stacked them vertically and they keep shoes out of sight but easy to find. Entryway Kids Shoe Storage: What's Your Solution? |

The quality is no bueno. We were super excited when we saw the sneak peak in March and intended to purchase it. We went to the store and felt it. It's very thin. We live in a Victorian built in 1885 and have 10 foot ceilings in our house. Our kitchen cabinets top out at eight feet.
