I don't think little kids huddled in a fort playing with a pretend campfire is depressing at all! I can just hear my 3 year old whispering to his older brother that he heard a bear outside the fort!

We live in an urban area and can't have campfires outside in the rainy winter. Summer is for camping, winter is for pretend camping. This is adorable!!

I took my baby to work for a couple of months (6 weeks through 3 months). It worked ok. He was a very chill baby and mostly slept. He was fine in staff meetings, etc. (Although having a cute baby around is a distraction for everyone else!).

I would say that it worked for me due to the nature of my work (I work in Operations at a small Center in a University) and the fact that I had established a relationship here before baby came along. I would think it would be very hard to start a new job with a baby (if I'm understanding your situation correctly).

It's pretty hard to keep it professional. Ultimately, I would find other care, but it *can* work if your baby's personality allows. No way I could have done this with my first baby who was much more awake and demanding.

@lowonthe456- It is pretty dreary. I've lived in SEA for 15 years and I love it, BUT we've only had about an hour's worth of weather above 80 degrees this year and have yet to reach 85. It has been an unusually cool summer, but when you pile it on the typical rainy winter/spring, it's a little tough to take.

I hate all things Sesame Street (even did as a kid), but this party is really adorable! Perfect balance of kid-friendly and lovely to look at.

Well done!

Very cute and practical. My sons have the Ikea bunk bed where the lower bed is a mattress directly on the floor. Great for my toddler, but it really is quite cold.

It really is lovely to see a party that isn't super-styled. Really beautiful. And that adorable baby!!!!

I love planning parties, but I agree that they are all starting to look the same in the blogosphere. I remember one on here last year that was a Peter Pan party that was really lovely and not so "cupcake pick that matches the water bottle labels that matches the..." (And I'm totally guilty of throwing those sorts of parties for my kids.)

Would love to see some new ideas!

But I will likely continue to plan elaborate home parties for my kids. Because honestly, I like it. And celebrating is a very important part of our lives. (But I never add up all the receipts....)

I like Konsmo from Ikea. I think it's a bit more interesting than some of their other twin beds. And you can't beat $80!

I agree with alina. Check very carefully. I once brought home a really, perfect, adorable midcentury kitchen table. Once it was inside and had warmed up, there were bugs everywhere. I was up until midnight scouring the house!

If it's bug-free- Totally agree with something soft and durable. A neutral microfiber would be great.

I loved the swaddling blankets, too. They were better quality than the BRU ones I received as gifts. And much cuter! I didn't notice a toxic smell...

I agree that the Bumbo won't work. I have a baby who was about 23 lbs at 6 months and it didn't fit him at all. I couldn't even wedge his pudgy little legs in there. My 3 year old can fit in it better than my baby! So, unless you have a freebie hand-me-down bumbo, I wouldn't waste the $.

Good luck! Big babies are tough to fit, but SO ADORABLE!

Bummer! I was ready to buy a bunch of these- they're wonderful- but demo derby's etsy shop is closed starting today through the beginning of January.

Anyone know of where I might find something else like this? My son would like the box better than the gift!

Thanks! I didn't see those tables on the IKEA website, but I'll check the store, too. I have one just about 15 minutes from my house.

Oh, and I love the cinderblock! What a wonderful room!

Another user of metal scissors with blunt edges. What is childhood without a self-haircut, anyway? Our soon-to-be-three year old also drinks mostly from glass cups and uses some grownup tools (with supervision). Sometimes the plates/glasses/bowls break, but he has learned to be careful with breakable things. His playdate friends, not so much.

I agree, the top one is horrible! I do like light gray in nurseries, though. I bet the Binth-inspired one with orange is great. We want pics!
