I'm another vegetarian who's going try this with tofu! The cabbage recipe is what drew me to this post. Cabbage love :->.

@wrenx I thought the same thing re Princess Bride and Inigo!

I had a senior colleague named Ione. The sweetest lady ever! With her lovely southern accent, and it was always an aural delight to hear her say over the telephone, 'hi, it's Ione.'

Skirted tables/sinks add elegance! My mother made a skirt for the tiny wall sink in a half bath. It made the room.

I like this post. Re-purposing is important (so is packaging reduction). Why not keep any kind of box out of the land fill?

In my house, I have one medium sized Hermes box (gift from a friend: tea cup and saucer inside) and one very small Tiffany box. I keep extra buttons in the Hermes box. The Tiffany box holds the "peace" charm when I'm not wearing it. I love looking at both of them when I open my closet! Orange and Tiffany-aqua are two of my favorite colors!

My tea-loving-friend's philosophy is that everyone (who loves tea) should have one really beautiful cup to drink from now and then (it doesn't have to Hermes, of course!).

Lovely view!

I suggest a color that matches the metal on your door and window frames. It looks like a medium gray to me. The darker color would make the wall appear farther away too. The TV would not stand out so much, and the white artwork would pop on a darker colored wall.

Hope you have fun with it!

The summer before I went into the second grade, we moved to another house. It was heartbreaking to leave behind my beloved peach and birch trees.

Plus the new owners wanted our playhouse torn down (Oh, the tears!). When we were about to drive away with the final load of boards from the playhouse, my mother remembered the spiderwort plant that my father's aunt (a woman who moved to Iowa in a covered wagon as a girl) had given her. My parents dug it up and slapped it onto a nail that was sticking out of one of the boards. I kept watch from the cab, as the plant road the fives miles to our new house, bobbing on the back of the truck. The playhouse was beyond reconstruction, but my mom, sister and I are all still growing this plant.

Plants and gardens connect us to our heritage and our history.

When my sister had twins in December she was thrilled to have people over--those who helped, that is. Usually visitors were handed a twin to rock, feed, change, etc. It was demanding, crazy and fun (and still is)! Amazingly, my sister has become less of a perfectionist/controlazon.

Also, I gave my mom the book
"Eye of My Heart: 27 Writers Reveal the Hidden Pleasures and Perils of Being a Grandmother" edited by Barbara Graham.
It explodes the myths (in a loving way) that are out there about these relationships!

It's an excellent book to give as a gift because it's a subtle way to tell your mother/mother-in-law, etc. things you may be afraid to say.

I love the candle sticks and vases on the mantel. As others have said, the bathroom is beautiful.

I saw a lot of homes on the DC area when I was house hunting, and I think they did a great job with there townhouse.
