A few times a year when I am extra busy I buy a big party size thing of crudite - baby carrots, grape tomatoes, celery, etc - it's not cost effective and it probably only saves me a 1/2 hour of chopping and peeling, but psychologically it's a huge relief and keeps me (and my kids) away from goldfish crackers.

I also really love peel cheese.

There's a place near me (in Massachusetts) that serves a pizza topped with hearts of palm, corn, and mayonnaise, which sounds gross to me, but whenever I call and order a pepperoni and pineapple pizza they seem slightly grossed out - they do a good job with it though.

I've had tandoori chicken pizza before and it's delicious.

My mother had a sloe gin fizz every weekend - I suspect it was very weak. She always ordered an Old Fashioned when she went out and would drink half then declare herself tipsy. My dad drank half a can of Milwaukee's Best light every day after work until he quit smoking and realized what it tasted like.

I ask myself the same question every day when I drive down my street. Several houses have large mulch beds with at least a foot between each plant. Often the plants are annuals or are plants that have no hope of spreading to cover the mulch. I originally thought they wanted low maintenance yards and for some reason hate shrubbery, but my neighbors are out tending to their mulch plots every weekend.

I've done that before but I covered the inside-facing part with snowflake wrapping paper.

In the same vein as mexican pizza, we have quesadilla pie often (this one: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/quesadilla_pie/ except I don't add butter) because my toddler loves it - I fill it with lots of bell peppers, squash, and corn.

My elbows don't end up on the table often because my parents were very strict about the no elbows on the table thing but it seems like a stupid rule - if a table is crowded or wobbly leaning on it with any body part is inconsiderate, but that's common sense.

My parents were also strict about putting napkins in laps, to the extent that I still put little paper fast food napkins in my lap if that's all that is available.

It's a cute idea but $6 does seem a bit steep for something that I will probably lose. I am also a fan of the rubbermaid butter dish but unfortunately mine fell into the dead zone behind my lazy susan corner cabinet thingy, so keeping track of a butter cap seems very iffy.

Yeah I don't see what the big deal is, they seem fun. They're mostly warm milk so they are probably better for kids than hot cocoa or juice. In RI they've been serving sugary coffee milk to little ones for decades!

My toddler has tried coffee but hates it, maybe I'll make her a double babyccino. She towers over my neighbor's kindergartners so I don't have to worry about stunting her growth.

I've mulled white wine before - it's tasty warm AND chilled. I haven't tried it with chardonnay though - if anything, at least it will smell nice while mulling?

I'm another one who prefers room temperature water. I don't drink much soda but when I do, I prefer it room temperature as well (but very fizzy).

I also love salad but for the most part don't like salad dressing. The no salad dressing preference mostly applies salads that come with lots of dressing options (like ranch or italian) - if the dressing is integral to the salad I'm usually OK with it but I'm perfectly happy munching on a pile of unadorned lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes like a rabbit.

I am ambivalent about the temperature of my syrup.

The foyer in our new house is primer colored (streaky white). I was going to paint it a chocolatey brown, but now I want bright colors...it's been unpainted since we moved in April mainly because I can't make up my mind. hmmm.

Kozy Shack is tasty, especially the rice pudding.

I really like the My-T-Fine chocolate pudding mix but maybe I'm just being nostalgic - it gets a thick skin on the top. I did try to make pudding once and it was too much work. The cooking part was OK but I think washing it out of my strainer pushed me over the edge.

I drive myself crazy with this, it's so frustrating. I heard an annoying wet clicking sound the other day and I thought it was my coworker chewing, and I started to grind my teeth with rage...then I figured out she was punching holes in foam. Suddenly the noise didn't annoy me, which is ridiculous. A noise is a noise is a noise.

I can handle anything in a restaurant or outside where there is a fair amount of ambient noise, I'm only affected when there is no background noise, like lunchtime at work when suddenly I am surrounded by slurping crunching feeding animals. Apples and chips should be banned from open office plans. My eating noises are of course never offensive.

I've learned to keep it to myself for the most part - thankfully my husband is very patient.

My parents bought their house in 1972 when I was 3 months old. My mom still lives there (my dad passed away). Most of my belongings moved out with me. My mom saved some things (yearbooks, prom dress) I had put in the trash, insisting that I'd want them some day, but I still don't want them.

My room was converted into a den a long time ago. My sister's room is a guest room - it's still a very 80's lavender but we took the iridescent unicorn poster off the wall a few years ago. My brother's room was turned into an office - sort of. It still has panelling and 'Empire Strikes Back' wallpaper. They intended to redo the room but put it off and now everyone in the universe agrees that it's hilarious so it probably will stay as-is until my mom decides to sell the house.

Have Your Parents Moved?

We moved a few months ago and gave away our cheap IKEA coffee table, intending to get a nice one once we settled in but so far we haven't needed one. We have a toddler and 2 cats and they use the coffee table space very effectively. It is awkward for the middle person on the sofa, though, and we haven't done any non-casual entertaining yet.

My family didn't have a coffee table when I was growing up, instead we broke out the liberty bell-emblazoned TV trays (oh, the 70s) when we had company in need of a place to put drinks. I kind of want to get some TV trays but my husband very strongly disagrees.

We had a little house almost exactly like this in our basement when I was growing up! My parents converted a closet in the basement into a playhouse for rainy days and used the section underneath for storage. We loved it. We had stairs instead of a ladder and crazy 70s curtains, but otherwise it looks exactly like that. We were allowed to draw on the walls (inside the house). Oh I wish I had pictures.

I remember dumping my baggie full of sliced veggies into a storm drain on the way to the bus stop because one of my classmates told me that having veggies for snack was weird. I can't remember what he said, but I avoided public consumption of raw green peppers for years. I was also taunted for having strange bread (homemade marble rye).

My daughter is only starting to need packed lunches and I keep it pretty simple - she usually gets some greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and multigrain crackers - but the other kids at her daycare seem to eat a lot of mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. I'm waiting for the day when she balks at her yogurt. She came home recently yelling 'pizza! pizza! pizza!' so I think it's already started.

My daughter is a string bean so I'm looking for tall baby car seats as well - for convertible seats, tallbabystuff.com recommends the Britax Marathon because it has a high weight limit and high shoulder straps and will last longer as a forward-facing toddler seat.

We have a bumbleride flyer stroller which I love but costs $300 . It reclines fully, is fairly smooth, and seems to have a lot of room to grow. That said, my daughter is 7 months and seems just as happy in our cheap umbrella stroller, so if you can hold out for a few more months until he can sit up well you'll have more stroller options.
