Amazingly cool loft, and looks very real and lived in, not one of those places that look beautiful but with a museum-like quality. Also I can't believe she had to clean out twenty years of woodworking detritus herself! One of my favorite house tours.

I bought a wok last year along with a couple of cookbooks (one of them being Breath of a Wok) and have enjoyed many stir fried meals, but I have also had a few mediocre results and wondered where I was going wrong.

Now I realize that I was crowding the wok by trying to add more veggies (I thought more is more!) and I wasn't cutting the meat into small enough pieces.

I followed the instructions above and enjoyed an excellent meal today. Thank you!

I've loved avocado on toast since I tried the Cafe Gitane version, and now I realize I'm late to the bandwagon. I just had it for lunch with fried eggs over easy and it was the easiest and yummiest lunch ever. Must make up for lost time.

I didn't have coriander so used ground cumin, and doubled the sweet potatoes. It's delicious! I'm used to spicy food and to me, this has a mild, pleasant heat. The leftovers will be perfect for packed lunch.

We go through several bunches of scallions per week so this is probably not practical for me, but I might do it for fun anyway. As per Charlotte's comment, it'd be nice to have something green growing in the house in the winter.

But tip to keep your refrigerated scallions fresh: as soon as you buy them, wrap the bunch in paper towel. It absorbs the humidity and keeps them from getting slimy. I do this for peeled garlic too.

I rushed over to Sahadi's and stocked up on the spices and am drinking a cup of chai right now. Delicious, even though I forgot to add ginger!

But I think I'll have to take the tip from some of the Indian commenters above and put in tea from the beginning as a more robust tea flavor would work better.

Yum...eating this right now. This is a genius idea! Used Trader Joe's quick cook steel cut oats with 1% milk. It's a good amount of milk, but then maybe mine soaked more because it's quick cook.

I live on the 33rd floor. Thankfully I've never had to walk up or down (I wasn't here during the 2003 blackout in NY).

No, I do keep about $100 in a drawer, but it's mostly so that I have money to refill my laundry card or in case I run out of cash to give to a delivery guy.

But maybe I should. If there's a true emergency and ATMs aren't working (like in the 2003 blackout in NY), cash would be handy.

This would be so great, I hate ironing to the point I don't buy clothes that require ironing. This thing could reshape my wardrobe.

I'm generally a big Ikea fan. But my Mysinge sofa started falling apart a few months after purchase. One day I was sitting on it and heard a very loud metallic "cling" sound. It was a spring coming off. There were more such sounds in the following days until the whole foam was sagging. I got rid of it at that point and got a Crate & Barrel sofa.

I wash by hand. The dishwasher in my rental apartment is very loud and very hot. Because of the heat, I'm convinced it would also suck up a lot of electricity. Also there's only two of us and we don't have that many plates, so would need to run the dishwasher everyday.

I got these exact tables (black/brown) three years ago. They look great in real life. However, they have not worn well. After about a year, some of the fake wood layer started peeling off. One of them also became wobbly. Despite all this, I like the look of them so much that I'm almost tempted to get the same ones again as replacements. Also to be fair, my tables probably got a bit more wear than is normal for side tables, my cats jump on them all the time, and one of them is my litter box cover, so gets moved around every day.
