So someone is lucky enough to have an official "mudroom" with fabulous built ins and can't keep it tidy or have sense enough to add a few baskets. I have no sympathy nor do I gain inspiration.

As newlyweds in 1981, my husband and I paid $500 a month for a three bedroom flat in a duplex. It had hardwood floors, custom cabinetry, a butler's pantry, 2 baths, garage parking, a fireplace, washer and dryer in the basement with a laundry shoot and 27 windows. It had one of those cool little milk doors that we actually had mild delivered to. The best part was the spinster teachers and their 92 year old maiden aunt who owned the place and lived downstairs controlled the heat and paid for it. It was so toasty warm during those Milwaukee winters that I wore summer pajamas all year round. I don't think we know how good we had it. We were 2 blocks from Lake Michigan in tony litte neighborhood near UW Milwaukee.

I have been cable free for 2 years. Best decision of my life. No more mindless channel surfing. I do have Netflix and Vudu. That way I can watch what I want. Don't miss TV shows at all. Now I read and listen to music and go to bed earlier and meditate and make art. A better life all around.

Last year I downsized from 3500 sq. ft. to 1400 sq ft. Recently widowed, I had a great deal of furniture to get rid of and wanted to donate it to Goodwill. I wasn't keeping much at all, I wanted a fresh start. I chose College Hunks Hauling Junk since I was told they had moving services as well as the ability to cart my unwanted furniture to Goodwill. I thought one agency would be getter than a mover and a hauler. Was I wrong.
The two young men they sent were neither hunks nor college students. They were dropouts. One man was shorter than I at 5"5".
They started out by arriving late around 9:30 and seemed shocked at the amount of things to be hauled away. I was told by the scheduler that they should finish around 1 pm. At 10pm, with several more loads to move, I sent them on their way. I ended up paying over 3 times what I should have. They damaged a number of pieces of furniture, did not re-assemble the beds. Part of the reason they were so slow is that they moved one box at a time. Most moving companies send big strapping guys who use a dolly to move 3-4 boxes at a time. I even bought the movers their lunch!
It was an absolute nightmare. When I tried to complain in writing and by phone I found the only phone no. for the local office was an 1-800 no. with a recording. The address on the invoice was incorrect and I couldn't get their new one, even from their headquarters. Finally 2 months later I tried again and the only reply I got from them was that it was too late.
A true bunch of jerks.

I love everything about it, the toaster, the starbust over the bed, the end table/lights by the sofa. The kitchen accessories are perfect. Avocado green works as long as the whole kitchen isn't avocado green!

I am originally from St. Louis and this is captures the best of the city. Tim has done an amazing job collecting and displaying without making it look cluttered. What a fun place.

I love everything about this space. It is what I shoot for in my home. I still get frustrated with all the paper and where to put it. I would love to get by with that small tidy desk. Love your art and wall collections, and books by colored covers.

Just a delight. Love the green bathroom. I used the same store sources in my new home. It's wonderful how they got a great effect without having to spend a fortune.

Who would want white. With all the great styles and colors out there, even the re-emergence of melamine, white is ho-hum.

too much white. Like living in an invisible house. I have a problem with designers who use lots of color in their work and live so sterily at home. It's like they are not authentic.

I have a generic memory foam bed from overstock.com. The first one I bought was firm, so I bought a topper - excellent results. I bought one for the guest room and got a soft one, also from overstock.com. Perfect. Both were less than $500 and the topper came from Target for about $119. I would recommend them all.

I've gone Kindle. So fabulous. I have about 20 favorite books that I keep. Of all the regular paper books I have read, I keep a catalog in a note book so I can alway find a favorite title or author.
