SIGH...
Grant deadlines, Passover, two concerts, and an upcoming conference in Hawaii plan to derail my cure for the forseeable eternity!

All is not lost...I've been doing all of my dishes (not leaving them interminably in the sink), buying fresh flowers, and I put together 2/3 Sloane leaning bookshelf units!
I've also gone through mountains if CDs and books, have huge bags, shopping carts, and suitcases of stuff to give away (actually, after some horrible tax news, sell?).
I took books to a used bookstore and after the owner summarily perused my past he only selected a few books and offered me 6$ ????.
Does anyone know good place to sell used books/CDs? I also have TONS of medical books.

Thanks!

p.s. Along the same lines as canceling subscriptions to catalogs and mailing lists, I am doing the same for my EMAIL! Instead of deleting mail I don't want in my Inbox, I scroll to the bottom to find out how to unsubscribe! I highly recommend this!

WOW, I am shocked and flattered that I made the "cover" o AT with my little kitchen!
Being the daughter of an architect, yet design-challenged in terms of organization and overall "coolness" factor (in all senses of the word - I'm way too warm!), this is a tough process for me...
This week sucks for many reasons; I'm over my head in grant proposals and research pitches, so work is preventing me from doing much Curing :(
I had done quite a bit of Landing Strip work a few months back, and will continue those efforts...
Like Holly in DC, I, too, have a broken-up landings strip, as some of my kitchen counter space has a letter holder and place for winter scarves and bags (this is a bit of a disaster - must clear some of it out!!).
This is my tiny, sad, pathetic hallway.

As you can see, the coatrack fell down, so now my coats and other stuff are piled on a rocking chair.

NOT good...(and I know you can't tell what is in the Outbox and what isn't, but that stuff is now gone! :)
I'm getting someone (like a person who is handy!) to help me install some things properly!

As for color, I am struggling with my lime green couch:

I love it, but it doesn't go with ANYTHING. I want to paint the wall behind it, but no idea what color...everything I like tends towards cool, but it's the living room, so warm?
(that's my dwarf bunny in the background!)

Good luck, fellow patients...

Oops, I got so over-eager that I commented on the LA Cure site! :)
We New York Cure folks are chattier, it seems...

I haven't had a lot of time to devote to the kitchen, but had done work a few months back weeding stuff out, so it isn't SO bad...
The fridge is cleaned out and happy, and at least half of my kitchen looks quite beautiful!

I don't understand how HotRodGal can get her kitchen that clean...where is all her, ummm, "stuff"? I have counter envy!
I'm trying desperately to de-clutter, weed out, etc...but there are always sponges, dishracks, soap, etc...that seem to consume counter space.
My Flickr pics tell a much prettier story, though!

Well, I don't know if I should be happy or sad that my disaster living room photo is posted here! I hope it inspires others...I'm definitely a "warm" person, constantly accumulating too much stuff!
My mom was staying with me up until yesterday, so this week has been tough...
My kitchen also contains a lot of office-type stuff and storage that is under my counter (totally unsightly, but my apartment has no closets!!!! Help! I guess I could install little curtains, if I had any homemaking abilities whatsoever...).
I promise to post a photo of the current dire situation on Flickr!
This weekend, focus is on the kitchen!!

Apartment Therapy New York | NY Spring Cure: Week 2 - The Kitchen

I tried The Cure on my own back in November, but got derailed during the Xmas holidays (excuses, excuses...)!
Now with a Cure Support Group I'm hoping to finally "move in" to my New York 1 BR rental apartment (when I first arrived two years ago I was a physician with no life, then lived with my boyfriend - left behind my career and the boyfriend as well, so instead of my apartment being a repository for clothes and Things I Don't Use, I'm planning on making a home!
The only real accomplishment leftover from my previous cure-attempt is a lovely new dining table and chairs!
A few before pics are on Flickr
http://www.flickr.com/photos/brainygirl/2329761315/in/pool-39185427@N00
and this week I did an overall cleaning of the place (which was hard given all the stuff everywhere!); I had made a repair sheet and given it to my landlord months ago - no progress!
Finally, after some pleading, the super cleaned and repainted the bathroom!
My new Sloane shelving is due to arrive next week, so...hopefully things are on the right track!!

p.s. although I have signed up for The Cure and the daily newsletter - twice- I still am not receiving emails! Help!

let's see...I have panic attacks, am experiencing withdrawal from my high-powered Type A job, my boyfriend just left me (so not sure I need the arousal one, maybe send it to him since, he couldn't....well, never mind!) and who wouldn't need therapy after all that?

Week 2 has been BRUTAL but well worth it...these would really make me want to cook in my newly-scrubbed kitchen as my current ancient grandma-style cutting board is made of ripply glass and makes horrible noises when the knife strikes it! Yikes!
