I'm a big spoonful of sugar person - the latest hit at my house is the backwards cleanup game - you pick up all the toys but you can only move backwards to do it.

Wait, what?? This doesn't even look like a nursery! It looks like a living room with a crib, changing table, and rocking horse shoved over in the corner!

I think it depends on the nature of your work and also on the nature of your baby. I worked part time teaching music lessons, and brought my son to work with me at least one day a week, from 10 weeks until age 2. It worked beautifully for us, but he was a very calm baby/toddler who was usually happy as long as he could be near me, either in a carrier or sitting at my feet with some toys to play with. A friend who had his own architecture firm brought his kid to work until 6 months when his newfound mobility made it not a good fit anymore, at which point they switched to a home daycare. Why not try it, since your employer is supportive, and if it starts to not work out you will at least have more time to find a childcare solution. Good luck!

Also, re. Aunt Cake's comment about the hat - I believe it's not considered safe sleeping to put babies to bed with a hat on.

How cold is her room? With a temp of 65-68 degrees, she should be comfortable in warm pjs and a sleep sack, although not all sleep sacks are alike. If her room is below that temp, you could try using a space heater. I love the grobag sleep sacks because they come in different warmths/thicknesses (they use the term "tog") and it also comes with a room thermometer that tells you what tog and what other clothing to dress your baby in for that temp.

You could also consider woolens if your house gets really cold at night and you don't want to use a space heater. I dress my daughter (10mo) in a cotton long sleeve PJ top, wool pants, and a 2.5 tog grobag for night and she seems toasty warm and comfy.

Also, some babies circulation systems are such that their hands always feel cold and it's not a reflection that they aren't warm enough all over.

Garnet Hill has a lot of cute stuff that could be unisex and comes in crib mattress size as well as twin/full/queen.

Great idea and very cute bedding, as usual from them. The sleepsack matching the sheets makes me giggle a bit - very Zach Braff in Garden State: http://images2.layoutsparks.com/1/56575/maverz-layout-garden-state.jpg

Um, I'd gladly give up my 2-child tax credit and low taxes to have Finland's much more progressive parental leave policies. This cute box of baby crap is just one example of a much more family-friendly country. Also I'm impressed that the box includes cloth diapers and no formula!

This is a super cool poster. Just one detail though - it's not the International Phonetic Alphabet that's depicted. The IPA is a set of symbols/characters used for expressing linguistic phonemes. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet) This poster is the NATO Phonetic Alphabet, which is used for spelling things over the radio/telephone.

@nellymom, my husband is a big guy and he likes using a mei tai carrier, they are one size fits all so we can both use it even though I'm on the petite side. It's impossible for it to not fit because you j
ust tie it on. I like the Babyhawk brand for their cute patterned fabrics but there are lots of brands of them out there.

We switched our son to a "floor bed" at 23 months when his crib was recalled, by putting the crib mattress on the floor. It was a totally easy transition for him and he was so proud and happy the day he finally realized (3 weeks or so later) that he could get out of bed on his own. When I asked other parents about this as a long term solution, I heard that not having air circulating underneath the mattress could lead to mold. So far I have not noticed any problems with this, but I'm wondering if anyone has links to studies or other scientific information on the health effects of sleeping on a mattress on the floor?

Yeah, no squeezy bath toys are allowed in my house for this very reason. We have received a few as gifts and they go straight to goodwill. Here is an eye-opening article about them. http://safemama.com/2010/03/03/hidden-filth-pvc-in-bath-toys/
Also, as this article relates, many of those soft plastic bath toys have PVC which is a really toxic plastic. My kid has hard plastic toys for his bath and he's very happy with them. We have the Green Toys tugboat and some other stuff from Boon and a couple of small Bilibos. Much healthier.

Yes, one bag is definitely the way to go IMO. I love Magz811's luggage tag idea, will have to try that! The main thing I was going to add is that it will probably take you 2x as long to get everyone out in the beginning. It's not just about packing the bag, although these tips are great - but getting everyone dressed (WHY OH WHY DID I HAVE A BABY IN DECEMBER??) and cajoling them out the door. Start getting them ready at least 30 minutes before you want to be out the door. Or even more. I'm not kidding.

I group by like items, not by outfits, but I use shoeboxes and clementine crates to keep the categories separate on the shelves in our baby clothing cupboard.
