I love the visual aesthetic of these Crosley record players, and I get the Moonrise Kingdom-style nostalgia, but I have to wonder, aside from record collectors who are bringing these around at some huge record flea market to listen before they buy, who are these people who want to schlep a turntable and records around? In the age where everyone has an iPhone full of mp3s, it just seems laughably luddite to me. And I say that as someone who has a big record collection and loves listening on a REAL turntable at home.

I bought one of these for my kids' art supplies - crayons, pencils and markers on the top, collage items on the middle, and paper on the lower rack!

@rmbnn - Too old, really? Legos came out in the late 40s and have been sold in their current form since 1958! I'm with others that say this is a sort of expensive and joyless option for parents who prioritize form over function. And I say that as a wood-toy loving Vermont hippie!

Can't have an outside party in December? Nonsense! My daughter turned 2 on December 19, and we celebrated with a family-only party with sledding in our yard and playing in the snow. Huge hit! We did start and end the party inside but honestly there was not too much damage (probably also because there were only 5 kids). This is more for the future, but a kid I know with a January birthday celebrated his 11th by building an entire igloo in his yard with his dad, and they had the party in there. It looked awesome!

I looove the TV cabinet! Brilliant!

As a pianist and piano teacher, I can't fathom what would be wrong with placing a TV above a piano. It's not like you're going to be using both at the same time anyway! And I would definitely guess that since they chose a small, unassuming digital piano, these people are more interested in their piano for making music than as a furniture piece.

Yeah, I don't get the whole "it's regional!" argument. Here in Southeast Vermont it's totally the norm to take off your shoes when you enter someone's home, and I'm very glad that people don't view it as odd that we have a hardline no shoes in the house policy. With two little ones who love to play on the floor and constantly put their hands in their mouth, no I don't need your lead dust/road dirt/dog feces/other disgusting and toxic substance-bearing shoes all over my floors. No thank you.

We have this shoe rack (http://www.target.com/p/2-tier-bamboo-shoe-rack/-/A-12227231) in our back entryway which is the most commonly used one, and for parties I put out a boot tray in the front entryway.

We use half-pint jelly jars - they are not tempered but the glass is thick and durable enough to withstand repeated droppings off the high chair tray - and you can't beat the price!

Oh my gosh this is simply a wonderful space. So many awesome nooks and architectural features here, and you did a beautiful job decorating it. I can't decide if I want to copy your whole style, or just come over and hang out there!

I just moved into an older house (1940) that had only one outlet in the kitchen, and it was not in a convenient place. I believe the current building code is any counterspace over 12" long needs an outlet, and if it's longer than 3 feet, then 2 outlets. I had an electrician out to install two new outlets, and it was kind of a big ordeal because he needed to add a new circuit, and our circuitboard is one that isn't made anymore, and there was a lot of extra wood to drill through inside the walls because the kitchen has beadboard. But eventually, the guy was able to install the new outlets. But be forewarned that if you decide to hire this job out yourself it may be a lengthy process, and could cost a few hundred bucks.

Having visited Zev and Michal's place many times pre-baby, I was very excited to see how their cool style would translate into a nursery and I was not disappointed. Well done, guys! Of course Noa's room is totally chic and filled with awesome art, just like the rest of your apartment.

Also I will say, in The Glass Table's defense, I have spent many happy hours around that coffee table with my own toddler and there has never even been a "yikes" moment. I think it helps that the table is so low.

We use a bunky board on our 4 year old's twin bed - it's an antique frame that only has 3 slats, so needed something to support the mattress. We chose the combination of bunky board and futon mattress as the lowest possible height sleeping surface so that he could get in and out easily (he was only 2 when he started sleeping in this bed). Also it's way cheaper than getting a traditional boxspring and mattress.

I think it would look awesome with dark gray walls - like a warm charcoal color. That said, I would hesitate against planning the whole room around the bedding because I have had some UO bedding in the past and it is not made to last. Then again, it's not like you'll never be able to find other bedding that will go with your wall colors, no matter what you pick, so if this bedding is your inspiration point then maybe just go for it.

Not strictly city-patriotism, but my husband calls me a "state-riot" because I am always singing the praises of Illinois!

It is indeed wonderful to be there - it's one of those rare houses that is super stylish yet quirky and comfortable enough to make everyone feel totally at ease the moment they walk in. The DIY projects are freaking outrageous. Who has that much talent?? ;)

I think it depends on the nature of your work and also on the nature of your baby. I worked part time teaching music lessons, and brought my son to work with me at least one day a week, from 10 weeks until age 2. It worked beautifully for us, but he was a very calm baby/toddler who was usually happy as long as he could be near me, either in a carrier or sitting at my feet with some toys to play with. A friend who had his own architecture firm brought his kid to work until 6 months when his newfound mobility made it not a good fit anymore, at which point they switched to a home daycare. Why not try it, since your employer is supportive, and if it starts to not work out you will at least have more time to find a childcare solution. Good luck!

Also, re. Aunt Cake's comment about the hat - I believe it's not considered safe sleeping to put babies to bed with a hat on.

How cold is her room? With a temp of 65-68 degrees, she should be comfortable in warm pjs and a sleep sack, although not all sleep sacks are alike. If her room is below that temp, you could try using a space heater. I love the grobag sleep sacks because they come in different warmths/thicknesses (they use the term "tog") and it also comes with a room thermometer that tells you what tog and what other clothing to dress your baby in for that temp.

You could also consider woolens if your house gets really cold at night and you don't want to use a space heater. I dress my daughter (10mo) in a cotton long sleeve PJ top, wool pants, and a 2.5 tog grobag for night and she seems toasty warm and comfy.

Also, some babies circulation systems are such that their hands always feel cold and it's not a reflection that they aren't warm enough all over.
