Wash all walls and surfaces with a TSP product (best). Paint if you can. Wash windows. Especially clean all around where the air uptake is on your air handler and put in a new filter.
Feminine douche product often works well in the carpet cleaner machine (lots) then go over a second time with Charlie's soap in the carpet cleaner machine... Let it set a few days and go over the carpet a third time with a small amount of Charlie's soap in the carpet cleaner machine.
Set up an attic exhaust fan to pull air through the house, or a box fan in a window. We lived in Georgia while in the military, moved on to Paris in 18 months. Wishing you well.

Well I would not be able to live with this.
But then I do not like anything under the bed or cluttery stuff on walls or surfaces. It has sort of a pack rat feel about it.

A little oriental garden out the window and an asian inspired kitchen i think. Lots of soft white and celadon colors. Maybe a LIGHT cork floor or a light wood floor. Something organic to walk barefoot on. I would paint the cabinets a light color with some great new hardware. i would spend some money on the hardware and new faucet. Something you like to touch. Think about creating texture with different kinds of paint. I would not rush to change the counter tops.
Is the kitchen hot with sun through the windows? If so blinds would allow you to shade the sun and still see out. A definition of art is form follows function so if you need a fan a fan is good.

I would try painting a white blind. A sample piece first. i painted one of the temporary blinds Malachite Genuine from Daniel smith Art supply. It is real malachite made into art paint in a tube. It is wonderfully transparent. I used a medium.

Before & After: From a Closet to a Bathroom
...and a Good Question

We had a place in France without a bathtub. We would set up a portable bathtub, it was one my mom found and ordered from Sears. It was great. In winter we would bathe in front the fireplace. A lot of the neighbors borrowed it and so it would get carried around.
Perhaps you can get one of these...

I too need a bath.
In places without a tub i have been known to bathe in all kinds of non traditional arrangements. A floorcloth, a nice rug, some candles and any room can be a bathroom. I have a tub now with plumbing but I have been looking with interest at these inflatable birthing tubs midwives set up in peoples living rooms.

We are meeting at my 80 year old Mother's big house.
My mom is going to get the turkey. The fresh turkeys are arriving at The Trader Joe's in her neighborhood November 10. That seems an awful long time to keep a fresh turkey in the home refrigerator. I would love advice on this. Mom is leaning towards a frozen butterball from the safeway but she is willing to go to trader joe.
We have some family gluten free, some vegetarian, and some low carb.

Well we have radically downsized from a 5 bedroom 4 bath 3 story house to a small apartment in a new city. It is going very well.
Both my husband and I work at home.
He has a small home office in one bed room with a desk and currently boxes of books and a small closet he needs to keep his clothes in. This is a tiny room. I have a bedroom for my art stuff and it also needs to have a bed for guests, primarily our musician daughter, and a crib for our grandson. My biggest desire is to settle into my studio space. I am grateful to have this space as we nearly went with a 2 bedroom. And it has a sink!
1 Paint studio victorian trim blue. Hang paintings so one wall has finished paintings and one wall projects in process.
2 Buy full size guest bed for studio... Ikea 4 poster the white one... Put bed longways in front of window with sofa cushions and perhaps a canopy from a long piece of hand dyed fabric..
3 make nook for our gulliver crib in studio as I watch my grandbaby 3 afternoons a week while his mom teaches a college course.
4 find or buy a small round garden table for studio alter.
5 find or buy myself a comfortable chair to sit at table
6 Buy bookcases for husbands office and unpack books.
I am not setting any limits on the cure. These are pretty big projects.

Having a nine month old boy cruising around the kitchen i would appreciate any tips with babies and toddlers in mind. At this point I am only putting safe stuff in lower cabinets. It is working out OK. I have big plastic bins with the pet food in one and Paper towels in another. I have kept the trash under the sink and am hoping for the best. The Island lower cabinets are empty now. Wiped out and waiting for inspiration. Baby stuff? Muffin tins and saucepans?
We are a family of work at homers. and so I try to cook a healthy often hot homemade lunch every work day as it gives us a nice break.
I love the specific instructions you are giving on how to clean. I am not a great cleaner but I love things clean. Our lunches are our main meal of the day. It has got to be easier cleaning up after...

Kitchen Cure Check-In Week 2: How Organized Are You?

Ordered a white shelf with shaker pegs I plan to use as the base of landing strip. We have a small apartment entry.
I do need to figure out something for the mail. I am not really a basket person and we need a holding place for gobs of mail.
It goes to the mantel now to a blue and white bowl but that looks messy and it easily overflows. Perhaps a covered box of some kind.. an in box. I only do mail once a week so it needs to hold a good bit.

They have come a long way with wood floors. If you got an unfinished wood floor it would not be that hard to match up the finish and you could possibly put a transition strip between the two floors. Old houses always added on.
