@chester shoeshine - i dismiss the whole man cave thing as well b/c its utterly gender biased and therefore offensive. its as if the man has to retreat to a sacred space and a woman doesn't have those needs and can rest easy in the other "shared" spaces of the home... my husband and i are house hunting and we're hoping for a place with a detached garage (not hard to find in LA) so that it can house all of his instruments and can be used to give lessons and for us to jam out every now and again...when we mentioned this someone said "so you're looking for a man cave?" and we were both like "hell no" we're looking for a separate space for him to do his work and i will have a space to do mine...it just so happens that his work is a lot noisier than mine....ugh, man cave! thanks for these suggestions... sousa609 - seriously its getting out of hand as its become a place to work (notice the stack of books for my dissertation and my laptop), a place to eat, and a place to hold things that have yet to be framed (NYT papers from the day after the election and inauguration)...if we had chairs we could move our desk chairs back upstairs and work at our desks which would be ideal and decrease at least some of the clutter... I agree that the issue is more that we need two chairs that we can use all the time and then chairs that can be stored away until we have company. We're currently using our two office chairs from upstairs which has made the table into more of a workspace. So any ideas on nice chairs (ignoring the stackable requirement) would be great.
