I am actually a female industrial designer of power tools. The tools I design are not pink and this is for a number of reasons. The main reason is that Pink is not in our brand color palette. We 'color' our tools to be consistent and grow our brand equity. As, for doing a limited run of a quality tool in pink for October? Well, I'm all for it, but chances are it is going to greatly raise the retail price to manufacture the 'limited edition'.This increased price will be unattractive to most consumers. So why not sell them year round? Well, most retailers only have limited space dedicated to certain types of products. These 'spaces' have to make the retailer $$. Research has shown that more men purchase power tools than women and as many of you have already mentioned, many men will not use/steal/hide/be seen with a pink tool. Hence, these core tools are not/will not be pink. In regards to size/weight - well these factors are largely determined by the materials and internal parts. If you want a powerful drill, you must use a powerful motor. If you want a longer running battery, you are going to have to use more cells, making the battery bigger and heavier. As technology advances tools are slimming down (for everyone, not just women). If you don't need as much power and want a lighter weight tool. Look into some of the 12v Lithium-ion tools. There are some pretty great ones in the market. I respect that people want products which they feel represent them. But pink is just a color. It doesn't represent ALL women, it doesn't define ALL women and just because a product is pink doesn't mean that it has been designed for women. It just means it's pink.
