I LOVE this room. I want it for my own bedroom frankly. Gorgeously executed interpretation without being too busy and themey, if that makes sense. Samantha's Alice-in-Wonderland Inspiration Small Kids, Big Color Entry #61 |

Growing up some decorations (advent calendar and wreath and some Icelandic tradition items) went up earlier, but the tree went up on the 24th and stayed up through Epiphany. Now, since my hubby is used to the tree going up the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I want it up through Epiphany... we have about a month and a half of Christmas decorations. Also, we live in ND so we try to get the lights up the last non-snowy weekend of the year, but don't turn them on until at least after Thanksgiving. This year it still hasn't really snowed so Christmas lights are going up this weekend. They stay on the house until the ice is off the roof, sometime in March? It's either that or no lights on the house, which we've done in years when the snow comes early (October). Feeling Festive or Getting Grinchy: Timing the Decorations Reader Intelligence Report |

We decorate and have lots of little trick-or-treaters... We're in a small city in the midwest and our street is a mix of young families with babies and really young children and a few retirees that built the houses originally. It's a nice mix and Halloween is always fun. Does Your Neighborhood Trick-or-Treat? |

I don't have tats and I won't ever, doesn't mean I judge people with them or have a problem with them. They just aren't for me, plus I'm petrified of needles. What's Wrong With Tokidoki Barbie? |

My 18 month old is a handful and tries to get into everything. It doesn't matter what I bring in the bathroom to try to entertain her with she'll just stand right next to the shower and try to open the curtains (getting herself soaked) and scream. I try to always get in my shower before she wakes up. The rare mornings that she does get up first sometimes I just have to bite the bullet and put her in her crib to cry for me for the fastest shower I can manage (5 min or so). Lately I've been able to preoccupy her with Backyardigans and books on my bed before going into the shower. For the most part she'll stay on the bed, even though she knows how to get off of it. When she was younger I used a bouncy seat and then a bumbo... The bumbo didn't last long though, she figured out how to get out of it pretty fast. Didn't help that she never really had chubby legs so she was never really "secure" in it. How's a New Mom Supposed to Get a Shower? |

We have the eurobath by primo in white. It is big but we love it. She hated the tub when she was little so I just took her in the shower with me, but we've been using the Eurobath since she was about 3 months old. She is now 18 months old and we'll probably use it til she outgrows it. It uses a lot less water than using the tub without it. And if she splashes outside of it, it just goes into the big bath tub and not onto the floor. Just keep in mind it is large! If you have room for it though, I love it. When she was little before she was sitting on her own, I folded a towel to place under her on the laying down side. She probably would have been fine but it's a little slippery and I felt more comfortable that way. Tubby Time! Baby & Infant Bathtubs |

I have a butter bell and have been using it for years. I change the water daily and use filtered water (we have a reverse osmosis system). In our old house before using filtered water, if you happened to forget you could get mold growing in your butter within 3 days. I started changing the water daily then, and still do, but now if I forget it's not as big a deal. I luckily live far enough north that the melted butter issue hasn't happened to me yet, even during summer. Good Gadget: Melissa Clark's Butter Keeper |

I guess one more thing, there are actually a few things that she doesn't like in a baby food puree'd format, but likes in it's normal state. Like all the baby food meats and Earth's Best Summer Vegetable. Just in case that helps someone who's thinking their baby doesn't like some particular food. I just give my 11 month old small bits of what we are eating. Still avoiding a few foods for potential alergy reasons, but other than that everything goes. She's great with any kind of cooked veggie or fruit I put in front of her. She can only handle some things in their raw state still (4 teeth and all). She's doing great with meats in small pieces. I really really hope she keeps this up. I love to cook and I don't think I'd handle a chicken nuggets only child very well. She's getting introduced to a wide variety of spices, flavors and textures now, so I don't have to make 2 meals every night later. The Apple Trick: On Not Tricking Kids into Eating Well |

Treat it like you treat the walls, or go a shade or two lighter on that portion. The slant ends so close to the floor in your case that it should be treated like a wall, not a ceiling. Paint this Slanted Wall/Ceiling? What Color? Good Questions |

I'm actually halfway between love it and never use it. I do use it, but somewhat infrequently. It comes out maybe once or twice a month. It's white marble and somewhat smallish, so while it works great for spices it's not as handy for things like larger batches of herbs. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Do You Own a Mortar and Pestle? |

It took ruining a table to become fanatical about it, but now we have coaster sets most everywhere we have seats. Tucked away in drawers and quick to pull out. I even keep one in my nightstand drawer so it's handy when needed. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Coasters: Do You Use Them? |
