I'm a night shifter. Advice I received was to eat something every five hours, and just eat what appeals to you, whether that's oatmeal at 2a or a turkey sandwich for "breakfast" when I'm driving home in the morning. Difficult to anticipate what's going to taste good, though - a lot of food seems to make me nauseous at night. Any other overnight tips? Work a Swing Shift? 4 Tips for Eating Lunch at Odd Hours |

beets!! i always hated the deeply pickled ones that always showed up on the table at family gatherings and stained my fingers pink. this year, a friend suggested that i try roasting them - and i'm in love! also, it turns out those pickled ones are pretty great, too! @jmorri26, I've just filled my rinse dispenser with vinegar - it works great! sometimes I'll also throw some vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher to clean the appliance itself. there are great tips on this site about how to do that. How to Use Your Dishwasher to Save Money |

I always grate my garlic now that I have a microplane. So much faster than mincing garlic (what a pain!) and it distributes so nicely. Hadn't thought to try it with onions - thanks for the tip! Time-Saving Tip: Grate Onions & Shallots Into Casseroles |

I'm getting a late start, but I'm ready to go. It wasn't until I took the "before" pictures that I realized how terribly cluttered our kitchen is - no wonder I can't find anything! Made this last night. Delicious flavor but I couldn't get the beef to ever be "fork tender" - I gave it an extra hour of cooking time and worried that it would get too tough if I kept going. I used lean stew meat instead of the more marbled kind - could this account for it? Winter Comfort: Beef and Barley Stew with Mushrooms |
