But then you can't store the paint because it would dry out. Might be a good solution if you know that you're never going to need the paint can again but overall it seems like more trouble than simply taking your brush and putting the paint back into the can.

I'd love to see what it says about adding chocolate to ice cream (as in chocolate chips) with a lower melting point so you can actually taste the chocolate in the cold ice cream, rather than having cold, hard, flavourless lumps to chew through.

I talk to my bf for about an hour every night before falling asleep - we live 1700 miles apart and have very different schedules, that's the best time for us to catch up. But I've never noticed sleep problems from it. Of course, I'm in the middle of finishing up my PhD and I work a very active job as well, so maybe there's nothing in the world that could _keep_ me from sleep. These days, I rarely even remember lying down.

What's a good way to put chocolate in ice cream? I've had very poor results with just chopping or shaving the chocolate. If I shave it, the pieces are too small to really be satisfying. If I chop it, it gets so col in the freezing that it doesn't melt well in the mouth and give off its flavors. Should I melt it, then let it cool, then add it? Should I mix it with something else with a better melting point? Thanks!

Anybody ever found one that's magnetic? My walls are hard to screw into, but my fridge is arm's reach from the sink.

I'm a "not" vote. It looks cute, but I'd rather be able to lean back against something

One of the reasons I am most looking forward to finishing my dissertation and leaving academia is that I'll be able to get rid of the books, CDs and movies that I've accumulated as a music historian who studies film musicals. Heck - if I get rid of the books and such, maybe I'll need fewer bookshelves! A smaller apartment! Nah - there's always something new to read and put on the bookshelves, no matter how many books you get rid of.

I always end up there looking for basic pieces for more complicated things and recipes I can cannibalize. )Not so good at following a recipe! Love the comments more than the recipes sometimes, since it tells me how others have already gone and cannibalized them!) My current favorite has to be the pierogi recipes (maybe they were part of one article in a magazine? they've all got about the same date, IIRC).

Clementine boxes. I keep some whole and use them to store crafty stuff or gloves and scarves. I use others as stackable shelves by taking off one long piece from the side. The bottom is a bit flimsy if you detach it from the side piece, but you can then take the side piece and slip it on top of the bottom but under the corner pieces to reinforce that lip. I store my dried fruits and nuts and stuff on shelves like that, and my onions and garlic and winter squashes. And for once I don't mind the branding because it's often quite attractive in a rustic kind of way.

Perhaps not the right place to ask this but ahhh well...

I don't like buying bottled water, but I like the bottles in which the water comes. Sure, I know that it leaches nasty chemicals into my body. I'm apparently willing to overlook that in favor of a cheap supple plastic container that fits into the water bottle pouches on the outside of my bookbag. Has anybody found a substitute for bottles like that?

My aunt collects grandfather clocks. This would be the best Christmas present ever for her.

A small dinner party with friends when I finish the first draft of my dissertation. Because I know nothing I want to celebrate more than finishing my dissertation! (Now I just need to, well, finish it!)

My loaf pans are used too often for such repurposing, but I use old clementine boxes for all of these purposes and more.
