I tried this last night and...nothing about it worked for me! Boo.

I was a girlscout leader for a few years and what shocked me most about the cookies was that each troop gets only pennies on each box sold. Combined with unattractive ingredients, I felt like there were much better ways to support the girls and local troops.

I agree with Rachiti-- I'd hate to be made feel like a bad friend for not bringing food! After a close friend had her first baby, she really just wanted adult companionship. Having gone from a busy professional life to being home with a baby was a big change. She was happy to have me visit, watch Real Housewives and eat cheese and crackers and takeout.

Ah, I too, love kinder eggs! I see them every now and again here in the US--usually little stores. My sister and I got really excited at a Canadian gas station recently (totally as adults) since they sold kinder eggs. The cashier looked at us like we were nuts, but we explained we just couldn't get them in the US!

One night in college, my roommate (and still close friend) and I made sandwiches in our dorm room. They were standard turkey with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo on bulkie rolls, but they were soooo good! Maybe it was that we were tired of eating cafeteria food or maybe it was just hanging out together, but they were delicious and more than 10 years later we still remember.

I don't like that the self checkers take away jobs from real checkers. Those provide great jobs for high school students and seniors. Plus it's nice to interact with someone (even if they do put cans on top of tomatoes).

Ah! I remember taking home ec (early 90s). I think everyone had to take it (and Shop!). I probably learned a few skills...I learned how to use a sewing machine for sure. Honestly, I hadn't thought about it not being a standard part of the curriculum anymore!

I've done this...but it was pretty difficult to maintain/work around people's schedules. So ultimately it didn't last. But still a great idea.

I use this and like it. I've been cooking from Mastering the Art of French Cooking and Julia calls for lots of tomato paste. The Amore I bought this weekend also had a little tab to win a free diamond necklace from Italy! Amore!

I have that and Better Homes and Gardens that I use often for reference and a trip down memory lane. JoC is pretty humorous, actually, if you read up on obscure ingredients!

I'm a big fan of these meditations-- they come across as more personal for sure (kind of like an editorial, if you were to think of traditional news sources) but also allow the reader time to think a bit deeper. Keep up the good work!

Yup, I too always use a ladle. It is perfect for getting all the stuff that's sunk to the bottom of soup, plus an even amount of broth. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I don't use...
