Agree with Jaqi, photos with a stranger wearing head to toe red velvet? No thanks. I also object to the pressure to buy photos, if my daughter wants to see Santa and there is no line at my local centre then I have no problem with that but I always say up front that we don't want a photo, my child would just like to chat to Santa. We regularly hold bbqs where 40 people attend. 2 years ago I purchased a set of 40 white plastic picnic plates that stack compactly and are sturdy but light. I have also collected 40 pairs of knives and forks from friends who have odds and ends they are happy to give me. All go in the dishwasher at the end of the night, it is very little additional effort and I think our guests enjoy the sturdier dinnerware. 7 Eco-Friendly Disposable Dinnerware Picks |

Yes, agree with all above that an all white scheme relies on texture and varied finishes to create interest. Babyfishmouth, I agree that different shades of white are also important. DonaldN HA HA HA Ideas for Making White Bedroom More Romantic? Good Questions |

Ah registries, I remember those. In Australia the "wishing well" has taken over, basically a euphemism for "just give us cash". The last 6 weddings I have been to have all included a little poem with the invitation which politely spells out that cash is the gift of choice, with no gift registry details so the choice is to give cash or risk a gift that is unwanted. They even set up a little wooden well at the reception to collect! Personally I prefer registries, at least I get to choose an actual gift. Wishing wells are obnoxious! My Lifeproof case for my iPhone is my best beach proof accessory, we live in Australia and are t the beach every weekend from October until March. I didn't bother buying an iPhone until I found a case that was both sand and water proof and the Lifeproof case is both! www.lifeproof.com Heading to the Beach? Don't Forget to Protect Your Tech! |

Brittlebar, exactly my thoughts. Except, I would say its even more dodgy that it was purchased from a drug addict, that is just taking advantage of the disadvantaged. Earliest Warhol Sketch Found at Yard Sale for $5 Design News 04.02.12 |

When I was washing dishes I would add extra detergent and let the suds get big then skim them off the top (the suds alone are not too wet) and put them in into a bucket on the floor for my son to play with. He would "wash" plastic things of his own or just play with the bubbles. I agree that small children are really not that interested in toys, they are interested in what you are doing and if you can find a way to include them in the job you are doing then you will both be happy! So true, my kids always love the plastic, battery powered, sparkly things...everything I don't love. I used to choose what I want and again, the chirping crickets. Now I choose what they want. Except video games, I'm still winning the battle to keep those out (for now)! Tales of Failed Toys |

As a parent of a child with severe food allergies I think I have experienced every kind of reaction possible! Parents that find my child an inconvenience, parents that are irritated that their child misses out on their favourite snack at school because of my child, parents that assure me that a food is "safe" despite clearly containing our allergens...but also the parents that have no idea how to help but try so hard to inform themselves anyway, the parents that go out of their way to provide a completely safe party menu etc etc the list goes on! I now have a very open mind about what I can "expect" and really appreciate the families who do go out of their way to provide a safe environment for my child. It is a great feeling to go to a party where I can say to my child "hey you know what, you can eat all of this". I have never forgotten a single family who have done this for my child, it really is a wonderful gift. Friends With Food Allergies |
