I could not live without a crib. My kids NEVER slept unless they were in their own bed, in their own quiet room. (I had to re-learn this with each baby, for some reason!). As soon as I placed them in their own bed, they all (3) slept through the night. Plus, it is a safe place to put them down if you need to run & take care of something. Even more so with small toddler running around who could unintentionally hurt the baby if it was down low.
That, and a super comfy (ugly) recliner are my two must-haves! :)

Oh, how I wish I could replace my ceiling fan with a lovely chandelier, but it is a neccessity for cooling for us.

For sure the hook & eye sounds like a great idea for this situation.

We have a slightly different situation, where we are in the country but our front door opens to a particularly dangerous blind corner. We need to go in & out a lot, but wanted a way to keep the kids in. We got a deadbolt that has a pin pad on the outside so we can come & go without a key but the kids are secure (even when Dad sneaks out to chop firewood). It has been awesome, so I just wanted to share. :)

You certainly can train a small baby. We started at 8 months teaching our little girl not to throw her dishes, etc and it didn't take long at all. We emphasize behavior at the table to save the rest of the family from indigestion!

I have seen the 5th picture before, and like it so much I wanted to do it my new babys nursery. I wasn't able to use wallpaper, however, due to the material the ceiling is made of, and instead I am painting the background a gray blue (walls are cream) and gluing on wood stars that are painted a soft gold color. I am really excited, and it is going to look awesome!

I love Christmas, and Christmas shopping, so I start early so as to enjoy it longer! In a large family, it also helps to spread out the expense. I like to save the wrapping for closer to the time though, just for the holiday spirit!

I love to see someone else loving their mobile home! Yeah!

One thing I did in mine was to replace the upper cabinets with open shelving. It really opened up the space (made the painfully low ceilings seem higher), and now it doesn't scream "mobile home" quite as much.

I am also am trying to figure out how to add color to just the kitchen walls. I am thinking of doing a vertical trim along the border, or perhaps beadboard on just the kitchen walls (the rest of the room is sheetrocked), so the color transition makes sense.
I like the idea of doing shelves up to the edge to define the area.
