I'm a food photographer and that's a really great tip! I've tried to shoot cookies before to shoot for my portfolio and they never come out as beautiful as they look in magazines!

I love white kitchens. Beautiful! I can't wait until I own my own house, the first thing I will do is put a gorgeous white kitchen and bathroom in!

Try ANYTHING! Seriously, chuck combos together from your spice rack as a rub, marinade in oils and juices, braise in different liquids with spices or fruits added or make a curry!

We have either a chicken thigh curry or chicken thigh tagine every week, they both take about ten minutes to make and then get left on the hob for an hour to cook - so easy!

I have two big wooden chopping boards and I use them all the time. Not just to chop things on, but also to serve cheese on and to serve main course platters on. A large joint of meat served on one at the table means everyone can help themselves. I even serve cake on them in the same way for dessert, with some little bowls of cream on the side.

My chopping boards are the most used items in my kitchen. Plus I bought quite simple designs - one plain and one butchers block style - and as they age they get beautifully coloured and marked with all the use they get.

Oh and I have two "worktop protectors" from Ikea. They are such thin plastic that you chop right on them and then you can pick them up and bend them to funnel the ingredients into the pan. Plus they're only about 2mm thick so they slide into the edge of my saucepan cupboard!

I love the Ikea silicone ice cube trays. I know that the old fashioned ones are more practical, but who doesn't want little ice fish in their drinks? Or stars... or hearts... or any other crazy shape I managed to pick up for £1!

I live in the UK and didn't know that you could actually survive without one of these. I use mine at least ten times daily... I just love tea!

Same as Jamie, little oil and then in a frying pan.

We have a much different type of bacon to the US style though, it's got way more meat on. The US style bacon is known as streaky bacon over here. Sometimes I use it to finish off a salad, but rarely for anything else.

Oh and microwaving bacon is the devils spawn. Evil method. My mother used to do it. You simply cannot have bacon without crispy bits.

I use these all the time. Just a few tips though:

I use lemon juice in a bottle to cover the lemons. It's cheaper and easier.

I slice the lemons completely into quarters. It makes it easier to pack more in and then get them out again.

They don't need keeping in the fridge. I'm in the UK and just keep them out on a shelf, with the lid on obviously. They keep fine.

I never thought I might be weird for drinking during a meal! I thought that was just normal and everyone did it!

Every month or two months for me and the other half.

Mostly because I hate doing the washing. But also because I refuse to use the dryer and we don't have anywhere outside to hang stuff (first floor flat).

I think sometimes the problem with vegetarians is that they can make you feel bad. Like sometimes when you go out for dinner with one, you can almost hear them thinking "I can't believe you're eating that meat. You're disgusting."

The problem is, "reformed meat eaters" are like "reformed smokers". They try to convince you that you are wrong in your own lifestyle choice.

I would never dream of telling someone else how to eat and I don't appreciate it when someone else tries to tell me how to eat. The problem is, most vegetarians do, even subconciously.

Just "I don't eat meat" is sufficient. You don't need to go into it. And for God's sake, don't say "because I don't like the thought of eating animals" while you're wearing a pair of leather boots... or showing off your latest designer handbag.

Of course they can never enter the kitchen! That's fine! I have the Larousse Gastronomique encyclopaedia and it never goes to the kitchen. If I need to cook a recipe from it, I just photocopy the page or jot down the main points into a notebook!

In the UK none of these are casseroles.

Casseroles here are meaty stews full of robust flavours, usually including vegetables and often dumplings, that are made in the oven or on the hob for hours on end!

The things described on this site as casseroles would be something I'd usually class as a "pasta bake" or similar!

Although I only live about two miles from the supermarket (and own a car) I still buy my shopping online. I stock up on staples that I need every two weeks as well as vegetables. As mentioned above, Tesco are excellent and their pickers are very good. They also have a large organic range which is pretty good quality too.

I still shop for some of my meat, my fresh fish and a couple of speciality bits in town (on my way back from work - by foot) but I like the convenience of not having to run my car every week just to go to the supermarket.

Plus it saves me a TON of money, I can see all the special offers, compare prices and pick the best deal. I never buy extras online either, because I'm just not tempted - I usually shop online after my dinner so that I'm not hungry while I shop!

I tend to make little fabric pouches that each carry a couple of things. That way I can just find the right pouch in my handbag and find what I need. If I'm swapping bags too it's easier to just pull out two pouches than to tip the contents of my handbag on the floor and transfer everything over!
