We have the same problem. DampRid did nothing in our bathroom. So I bought this little dehumidifier. http://www.amazon.com/Eva-dry-Edv-1100-Electric-Petite-Dehumidifier/dp/B000H0ZDD2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_1.

It "works" in that water accumulates, but I'm not sure it does much to deter mold and mildew. In the summer, we simply open the window. But in the winter, it's too cold. Instead, I remove the damp towels, make sure the shower curtain is pulled closed to dry, and clean the shower more often.

This looks amazing! I love the stenciled wall and the light gray she chose. But, yeah, it's hard to tell what the before looked like.

@wettersgarden -- Chagrined to admit that my rock collection is still at my parents house (I am 34). Every time I visit I think about tossing it, but there are some really nice rocks in there ;) Be glad you nipped this one in the bud.

Does anyone know where to purchase inset pulls like the ones on this dresser? I have a piece that has inset wood pulls, but they're very fragile -- the wood keeps cracking. I'd love to be able to replace them with something sturdier like brass. Here's the piece: http://urbancholita.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/dsc_0011.jpg

Day 3: Treating My Home to Flowers & Green Cleaners Liveblogging the January Cure

The Environmental Working Group put together a guide that gives cleaning supplies a grade based on their health effects and environmental effects. I was surprised at how awful some of my standard cleaning supplies are for my health and the environment. The guide is here: http://www.ewg.org/guides/cleaners.

My problem isn't putting stuff in the outbox -- the outbox is already full. I get stuck when I think about disposing of the items. I don't want to throw out perfectly good dishes/curtains/etc. But I don't have a car to haul items to a donation center either. And some of the items seem like things that could be sold. But where? And how? And who has the time? Sigh.

Nope. Not 8 1/2. Only 3 1/2. And the place had just been painted when we moved in.

I was totally blown away by how lavender the paint looked once we had it on the walls. When my husband and I first looked at the swatches, the color seemed much more blue-grey. I guess this means that if you truly want to know what color you're getting, you need to paint a fairly large test swatch.

Fortunately, I'm a fan of the new color. Thanks again to Apartment Therapy and Glidden for helping me redo my bedroom.

A question I can finally answer! I'm not sure where you are located, but I found PERFECT bowls for so cheap at Fishs Eddy in New York. They were like $3 each. Fishs Eddy does have a web site (http://www.fishseddy.com/), but not everything they have in the store is available to order online. They are thick, off-white ceramic with a little rim around the top for the cheese to rest on, and a little bison on the bottom. No long handle, but I haven't found that to be annoying.
