I used the recipe from the book All About Braising and it was unbelievably good! Whatever flavors you use, I think braising is the best method for short ribs.

Use really large oven mitts when taking big braising pans out of the oven. I always go too high and burn some part of my hand.

And...amen to keeping cellophane wrap and aluminum foil cutting edge down. How many times have I cut myself on that??!!!

I'm old enough not to have grown up with the latest technology. I just think "would I have a big old fashioned phone at the table"? Would we have sat there talking while making others wait for us? Probably not. I never ever take my phone out during a meal with someone else and find it rude when they do. It's hardly ever an emergency.

Costco now has unsweetened Blue Diamond Almond Breeze in a 6-box carton. I really like it better than the sweetened kind. I recently used it to make pumpkin oatmeal and it was incredibly good!

A few years ago, Costco was selling Rachel Ray orange enamel dutch ovens. I am so glad that I bought it. It's heavy like a Le C., and has lasted well.
