Just read that a good way to get your day going as a mom, wake up the 30 minutes earlier to get your own "stuff" done, that way no dragon breath, (sorry to be graphic), secondly, make the beds before going downstairs, after getting dressed. Thirdly, clean the bathroom when the kids take a bath. We're in dire need of some storage in our lego strewn living room, we have a small space, I have resorted to the "what do we really love mantra".

This website helps me keep style, yet be functional and honest, I am a mom, and we are expecting our third.. Yes, buying only what I love- very important now that funds are tight. Inviting people over, equally important! Clean sheets and flowers-- even if just on my wall, it makes our home more cheery.

Im on the decluttering train lately, and my husband is on the "install a shelf' and create "order" train, the beauty comes after the hard work..in small doses. We also just painted, this has helped with the beauty factor..

yes its true, value what you have, dust it off, i've been humming and hoe-ing over what colour to paint my living room for more than a year now, I know thats bad but Im a busy mom and a grad school student married to a seasonal worker, so time is just never there.. this winter we will paint a neutral colour(boring) only because i've inserted some punches of colour and want to stick on the safe side, ive taken down a lot of the art that i felt i liked in the past, and have one diego painting left up which will become my accent, and maybe pulling a colour from there for more accent, anyway, i surf and surf home decorating.. yes it helps but these words help more.. thank you!

ive got a piece from 1905 apparently, its a hutch and old and dark in colour but rich with some design.. im thinking painting it would likely kill the beauty of it, so i agree, dont paint, let the story tell itself in the wood. but if you have a really blah piece, like a little lipstick, add the paint.

we've put up pot holding hooks all around the top of our stove due to a lack of space, which then becomes home to the one pair of kitchen scissors as well as oven mitts. My husband put up ancient looking teal coloured blue shelves, which i thought were hideous at first but ended up bringing out the antique like theme of our kitchen- we used nicer brackets, and to brighten it up i put up gingham red cafe curtains.. functionality and colours.. love this post.

my four year old is in love with giraffes too, thanks for the inspiration... i asked him awhile ago if he would like a kitten, he responded "no a giraffe"..

totally true, i was thinking the other day as a mom of small children, if the beds are made, everything else looks so much cleaner. I try to just do a ten minute cleaning job, anywhere, even if my children are in the bath, sometimes a good opportunity to read while sitting there, and even better if i take a few minutes and wipe down things.. etc.. But the bed thing, totally agree. Love the white bed by the way..

lampshade makes living room very interesting, nice attention to little details, love the rich vibrant colours and art.. cozy, fun. intersting.. thank you. i hope to find a cukoo clock too..

does anyone have a clue what kind of bed frame that bed is on with the overflowing cream coloured bedspread duvet.. i love that bed! If i knew the frame, i may be tempted to find one- it looks pretty simple.

i really love the stack of books, and the use of the letter A... oh and the fluffy white rugs... found objects with soul, so true..
