I must be one of those weirdos. I love eating Kohlrabi in slices. It could just be because that is the way I ate it growing up as a side dish. They were homegrown and I remember them tasting similar to a slightly sweet raw potato.

I have a Lodge LPGI3 griddle that I love. Yes, it is cast iron and you have to be careful with setting it on a glass cooktop but I've had it for a year and a half and it hasn't scratched it yet. I don't have a bridge burner element and it still works great. Don't let the lack of a bridge element sway you from it. Also, it's much easier to store in a cabinet than a bulky electric griddle. I store mine on a heavy duty hook on the inside side of a cabinet that keeps it flush with the cabinet.

One of the "well duh, why didn't I think about that?" cooking moments for me was when I'm baking to spray the sheet pan inside the dish washer. Keeps the oil spray off from getting everywhere. Garbage bowls are rightfully #1.

I don't see any discoloration where a horizontal trim piece would have been so I think the missing piece may have just been a square accent piece.

There are square and round decorative accents you can find at your local big box store. I'm thinking that a simple square accent piece with a circular design inside would compliment it well.

I love Ree's Cajun Chicken Pasta. I substitute whiskey for the wine to deglaze and it turns out awesome.

Could not agree more with the dishwasher advice. I always make sure my dishwasher is empty and ready to receive. Everything else (knives and really sticky utensils) get washed immediately and put up. Nothing more satisfying than being able to sit down and enjoy a meal of your own knowing that you don't have to dread cleaning anything up.

Black bean quesadillas are quick and easy. We use onions in them but they could easily be removed (we enjoyed them without for years).

Couldn't you pick up some acid and do a permanent etching on the glass with measurement lines? Would keep it from going to the recycling or landfill. I assume once it's washed after etching it should be food safe again right?

I have had the Lodge 6 quart for over a year. Had an issue with the paint on the lid chipping after trying the no knead bread recipe but Lodge replaced it within a week. Lodge are great quality and one of the few (if not the only) American made dutch oven makers.

I bought my Red Lodge 6 quart Dutch Oven at Walmart for $54.95 after Amazon put it on back order for 3 weeks. Now if I can just get the motivation to break it in before it's Christmas Gumbo time.
