Susan1981,
Get with the program. Maxwell was quite clearly saying you didn't have to eat the moss, bugs or the dirt!
Think picnic, you know the bugs and the dirt are just under the picnic rug.

I made these today. Most properly the best SCONE recipe i have ever tried. It has been copied and placed in my recipe book forever.
For me they stayed tall and thick. They were really, really good. The trick is not to over work the mix. Just, bring it together, just!

There is a lot of mediocrity in the world and it is the place of some people to aspire to it. I believe learning about the quality, craftsmanship and traditional skills of product or service brings hope and joy to the world. There are a lot of people in the world who produce part or all of a product that themselves could not afford. This reality of life that first poster is not taking into account when they aspire to read reviews only middle of the road commercial rubbish. America is currently (not) enjoying the results of such thinking. We will happily buy a car that will last 10 years and drop in value by 80% before becoming useless to us, where a bed like this could last 20-30 years and deliver many years of improved health. I won't even start on the total value of Computers, TV's, VCR's, and other consumables we have to constantly replace and basically provide little or no craftsmanship or industry for skilled people. I personally would pay $20 per week to sleep on this mattress, I would not pay $5 per week to sleep on ikea junk, but some people are happy to. The term "afford" really means "priority"

Colorado Kaye,
Boy you are popular! By your post I take it that you think rich people should keep their money in the bank? (where it is useless, even to them) I think Hastens have developed a great way to return some of the Rich's money back to the people that need it the most. The wages you are paid are taxed and a part of those taxes then go to help those people who sleep on concrete. Then take the untaxed wage (and in the case of the USA) it is largely spent on products made in China and those wages (0.25c per hour) go to the workers families back in their home village, who by the way are sleeping on the same products that the Hasten's Mattress is made out of, maybe with out the spring steel.
I would love to spend the rest of my life sleeping on a Hastens Mattress but I am not one of the 980,000 people in the USA with a net worth of over $5 million dollars. So I say campaign your rich friends to spend it helps everybody. And if you spend $300 on a mattress then 50% of it's value goes to China but dont worry the Chinese government lends the right back to your government.
I hope this is food for thought...
