Don't buy a bottle warmer. Babies can drink milk warm or even straight from the fridge. If you have a dishwasher, don't buy a bottle sterilizer. We have a small house, but we LOVE our video baby monitor. We've used it for a year and it's been very useful to see what she's up to.

@HYZEN and @DEARMISHA - I have absolutely no beef with the poster itself or hanging it in a child's room. I was annoyed this was Wendy's favorite element in her children's room, when I thought it was one of the least possible element to be enjoyed by her children.

I'm annoyed that Wendy's favorite element is the I heart NY signed print by milton glaser. To me it's the least interesting element and a puzzling addition to an otherwise stunningly beautifully designed room. I know I'm being nitpicky, but what do two young kids know about NY to love it? It's as if it was included for the parents to say on Apartmenttherapy "my favorite element is i heart new york signed print by milton glaser". It just feels so snobby! Like Boots or Oscar ever notice it. I'm sure they never say, "Goodnight giraffe". "Goodnight Darth Vader." "Good night i love ny print signed by milton glaser." Please. This is an adult's indulgence.

JHAAP is right. Balloons are 100% biodegradable. In other news, Lindsey, I love what you did! The color combinations, especially, are fresh and not too girly (I'm so sick of pink!).

My husband and I really like this recipe. So much so, I've made it three times in one week. I could definitely see how adding some spices or artichokes could make it more interesting, but I was fine with the way it was except I doubled the fennel. Also, I was careful to cook the fennel on medium so that it got a slow cook and didn't need too much oil or became burned. It's really quite simple if you have the ingredients on hand!

We use an inflatable duck tub that we put on the counter. It's worked out great so far (she's now 7 months). I could see eventually moving it to the floor and sitting on the floor cross-legged. And a bonus function, during the hot summer, this doubled as a perfect portable pool! http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-White-Hot-Inflatable-Duck/dp/B000066665

@cakowalik If you hate the government and what they do to save lives of defenseless babies, why don't you just move somewhere like Haiti to live out your libertarian paradise?

The way I see it, there are several risks to bumpers:
1) Suffocation
2) Strangulation
3) Injury from using the bumper to exit a crib

Why is it that everyone here who is defending using bumpers (as in using mesh or fabric) are not addressing the other 2 risks? I'm truly puzzled...

I get really annoyed with the exasperated argument I hear often from my mother-in-law about how she raised 3 kids without all these darn safety measures and they turned out fine. My opinion is that it would be remiss for people to know that something has caused repeated injuries or deaths and NOT try to share that information with new parents. I'm grateful for the information and I'm going to use it. So far, we've had no problems not having a bumper with our 5-month-old. She pretty much stays inside, but when we go in and find her against the rails, we just adjust her. She's getting really good at holding her heavy glass bottle during feeds, pulling it into her mouth when she wants more, so I don't see why she can't learn to not bump her head against the railings. I think she's capable of learning that, so I'm just not taking any chances.

I just did a bunch of research on this and decided I wanted "puddle pads" made from wool. But they are SO EXPENSIVE to buy? So I'm making my own out of army wool blankets.

I bought a twin sized blanket on ebay for about $20. I'm going to lanolize, and then cut it down to various sizes for my 5 month old.

Here are some instructions:

I'm actually stunned at how cheap Netflix is for my usage because I take full advantage of streaming TV shows. Lately I've watched all episodes of Torchwood (3 seasons), Pillars of the Earth (7 episodes), Downtown Abbey (7 episodes) and several seasons of Skins. You may wonder if I have a life, but I'm actually watching all of these while at the gym - steaming on my Android. Makes the time fly! And meanwhile, my husband uses the SAME account to steam his favorites (Futurama, Larry Sanders, and the IT Crowd) when he works out (at different times than me) or up in the middle of the night with our 4 month old. I'm one super happy customer!

Add some BBQ sauce! And next time, get a Gardenburger instead. They aren't meat-like, which I appreciate, and they are delicious dressed up like a regular burger.
