if you can hang things on the wall why not hang some fabric. If you wanted to go light you could buy some large sheets from a discount store and hang them from the ceiling/top of the wall. You could use starch to attach the fabric, but I have never done it myself and have no idea if it would leave residue on the wall. You could use Ikea drapery hardware to attach it at the ceiling - i am sure you could get really creative (maybe something with 3M hooks if you can't drill into the walls). Mirrors seem like the best way to create lightness in the room, but the only way to change the color (that I can think of) is fabric on the wall! Good Luck!

I clicked on the persons link from above, http://www.fenugreen.com/ , and ended up buying some! It was $10 + $4 for shipping for 24 reusable sheets! It is organic & biodegradable... I would check this option out. Great backstory (inventor rediscovered old Indian remedy for keeping produce fresh while visiting her grandmother in India) and has lots of great testimonials and awards listed on website! I am excited to get them!

These are AMAZING!!!!!! I might add a custom/diy piece on the end for drinks and popcorn - but I would not have thought of this and it looks incredibly comfortable and functional for a house full of boys, like mine!! Well done!

Not sure where the $700 figure came from, couldn't find that anywhere... but yes! $700 is quite reasonable. Maybe not for a nursery alone, but most people have to get carseats for their kids. Crib/cosleeper, bedding, clothes, bottles, cloth diapers -- if your able to splurge a couple of hundred on them it will save thousands over the next 2-3 years -- not to mention bouncers, bumbo, swing... Yes - some of these are optional items, but unless you are lucky enough to be gifted or receive 2nd hand items, babies do cost money! Although my three kids are out of diapers, I thought this was a great post about keeping it reasonable when preparing to have your first baby!
